Not a fan of these kinds of posts to be honest.  I know it's out of curiosity, but I'd hate to make it seem like cheating is the norm.  No one should go in with the attitude that it is okay to cheat.  If it happens, that's one thing in itself, and you have to get back on track......but if you can stay the course and do the optifast without veering off course, then that is an absolutely wonderful thing too.  Kudos to those that don't get derailed.  Optifast can be such a challenge for so many.

I find that for most, the attitude going in is a huge component too.  Setting yourself up mentally is HUGE for every aspect of surgery.  If you cheat, get back on track asap ;)  Resolve to do better.

Well Diminishing Dawn, I'm not out to make anyone feel bad.  I just wanted to see if others have veered off track.

Optifast is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Drinking the 4 Optifast, 1 cup low sodium broth and decaf tea or coffee is a struggle.  I had no intention on cheating but....

I have been wanting some cucumbers and vinegar sooooo bad that when I was cleaning my floors with vinegar I drank probably about 1/2 tsp of vinegar.  I actually think this helped me with my wanting the cucumbers.

I know it was wrong and I guess I am just trying to figure out if I am the only one who has given in.  Now that you've pointed out how my post was wrong and I feel bad, I will watch what I ask on this forum.

I didn't say it was easy nor did I want anyone to feel bad.  If you know my posting history on here, you'd know that my intention is never to make anyone feel bad. If you took it that way, I'm sorry. That was not my intention in the least.  Mistakes happen.  You're not the only one by far. As I said, pick yourself up and move on.  That's the best thing that you can do.

I'm not trying to make you feel bad in anyway.  I don't blame anyone when they fall off the wagon. Optifast is hard, damn hard.  I just feel that sometimes this posts lead to others "glorifying the cheat". I know that was not your intention - as I already said.  I just don't want this to TURN into that kind of post.  I've seen it all too often.

Often, we have "I screwed up, will I have to cancel my surgery?" posts.  It happens. Cheats happen to people.  As always, I say chin up and on to better things.  Turn it around. YOu're human and you'll spend the rest of your life making mistakes.  The faster you get on track, the better you'll be.  Don't blame yourself. Don't beat yourself up. Just move on and chin up.

I'm through Humber and they allow 2 cups of veggies a day (broccoli, celery, lettuce, green pepper and one other that I can't remember). They aren't "cheating" if you're through Humber but if your Centre doesn't allow them I can't see the harm if it will help keep you on track. It's nice to have some crunch in your day!

Good luck I am through Humber too and the other veggie you couldn't remember is cucumbers.  So happy cuz I love them in vinegar and did some today.   I still have 12 more days of Opti to go.

Not one cheat the three weeks I was on it. Sure it was tempting, but I would only be cheating myself out of what I worked so hard for.

Never cheated in the 3 weeks.

Either you're committed or you're not.

Kudos to those of you who did a liquid pre op. I'm not sure I could have managed it.
