Bizarre Stitches

Not sure if any one else has experienced this but I have 3 sutures hanging out of my bottom stab wounds. They were not there when I had my 2 week follow up with Dr Hagen.  I showed the nurse at my 1 month follow up and she was like "yeah , they will dissolve". Any way I feel like a damn 3 wick candle. I see the surgeon next week to get some paperwork done for work so I will ask him as I would like to hit the pool since I hurt my knee.

I had one in one of my incisions, it got annoying and I was worried it would get pulled accidentally, so I just took a nail scissor and cut it off close to the skin.  It went away.  As long as the incisions are closed, and not seeping, you should be able to go in the pool.   Since you are going anyways, they can double check for you.

Thanks Cathy. I know that one is definitely the dissolvable material, but the other I'm not so sure about. I'll see what Dr Hagen states about my candlewick

just don't light them on fire.

Haha Monica M, I don't think it would smell as nice as my new candle from Bath & Body Works if I did. There are just irritating me as the stab wounds have not closed fully and I have probably tore my meniscus in my knee so I want to do aquafit instead of walking as the pain is crazy!

you're right, it probably wouldn't. Someone else said it, and it might be true, they're preventing the healing. Just give a gentle tug on them, see what happens.

My one incision would not heal right and the others were fine, healed and perfect. In cleaning the would one day my stitch poke out. I just took it out and that resolved the healing issue and everything was fine. It was one of the internal stitches that was just not dissolving and irritating the wound. 

i had a few hard. annoying ones hanging out that i pulled and cut. easy peasy.
