I shopped at the Gap

Shopping for myself at The Gap is something that  I have never been able to do in my entire adult life -- went in yesterday and tried on an XL cardigan (not thinking it would fit).... And it fit - was actually a little loose in the shoulders. I did a little happy dance, then had a little teary eyed moment because I never thought I would see the day I could shop there. Not that i have a love for the store itself - it is more that it represents shopping in any store I wish!! I can see how shopping could become a serious problem -- I love going to the mall and now instead if shopping for my family... I can shop for myself!!

I have lost 100lbs from my starting weight since July, and it rocks.  I didn't buy the cardigan btw, as I figured it would be too big in a couple of months anyway!

For those thinking about doing it -- DO IT! It is not easy by any means.... But it is so worth it.

Last year at this time, surgery seemed so far in the future, I felt that the time would never come.  I only had had 2 appointments, and was looking forward to the next group of appointments in Jan, Feb, March and May.  I dreamed of what this Christmas would be like -- how I would actually want to be in our family photos, how I could go skating, and wear tall boots.  I would read with envy those who were having successes losing weight and couldn't wait for it to be me! And now... It is me!! lol

for those who are in the process, or thinking about starting, DO IT! It will forever change your life for the better. You can all feel free to pm me with any questions you have as well.  I am no vet, but don't mind sharing what I do know :)

I am waiting for orientation and reading posts like yours make me more determined. I shop with my core group of friends (size 2 and size 8-10 depending on season...lol). It is really hard because we go to my store (the only plus size store around) and then spend the rest of the eating and going to their stores...depressing and hard at times to keep a smile. I joke about it with them while I look at accessories and hand bags but it really does hurt. I want to stop joking about buying a 3 shirts from RW and sewing them together to make one shirt for me.

Keep posting your success. It is really great to read. Just look at how many views your post has. People love to hear these stories!

Thanks
