Plastic Surgeon?

Today I heard back from the plastic surgeon I was referred me to. His name is Dr Michael Kreidstein. Apparently my panniculectomy has been approved by OHIP.

So I a few questions.

Has anyone had him?

Is there anyone else you'd personally recommend?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm hesitant to go with him.  He quoted me $4000 last month when I saw him.  But the person from his office that I spoke to on the phone today said it's closer to $7000 for the tummy tuck, and would have been $9000 if I hadn't been approved for the panni.  A panni's only $2000?  And what other charges are they going to remember to tell me about that they forgot to mention?

End of rant.

But really, who would you recommend?

Tummy tuck prices are all over the place.  My surgeon charges $15,000 when he does it in Boston.  He charges $9,000 in Dallas and $5,000 in Ohio.  If he quoted $4,000 last month before the panni approval, he might be a lot less expensive than the person on the phone told you.

A pure panni that is covered by OHIP should cost you nothing. Upgrading to fleur de lys can cost anywhere from 5000 plus hospital costs which could be another 7000. . Dr. Nanda cost if you do panni first in hospital costs nothing if ohip approved then he will do second part to complete the tt at his clinic for about 5500. It means 2 surgeries but lower costs. The hospital fees have gone up crazy in 2015. Around 7000 is not that off.

How does someone have surgery in an office?  I don't understand, this isn't dental, it's major.

I had a full tummy tuck done in the plastic surgeon's clinic.  They have operating rooms in the clinics and full nursing staff.  Not all surgeons keep you overnight, I went home the same day as my tummy tuck.

I never knew they could do that!  How did it go?

Was this in Ontario?

All went well.  I was stoned out of my mind when my friend picked me up to take me to her place but otherwise I was fine.  I had it done in Mississauga.  Most plastic surgeries are done in clinics and the surgeons are affiliated with local hospitals in case a patient ends up needing to spend a night if their vitals are not stable.

That totally makes sense!

Does that mean you also pay less?

I doubt it.  Mine was in 2008 and I paid $8500 plus tax.  I think if you want an OHIP approved panni then it has to be done in hospital.  I didn't want to play the waiting game for panni approval and my surgeon doesn't work with OHIP for panni coverage so I self paid and had a date within 4 weeks.
