Totally Bummed

I just got home from my 2 hour nutrition class only to find out that my appointment with the dietician is not until July!!!  I thought I would be getting my appointment with the Surgeon not a dietician.  Now all I want to do is eat a bunch of CRAP to try and get happy.

Has this extra step happened to others and if so what can I expect to be the next hurdle that I need to cross?

I could totally use some good news or something to lift my spirits (besides food).

Thanks for listening.

BTW... I am new here but have been lurking around for some time now.

Hi Tigress,

Try calling and seeing if the dietician has a cancellation so you can move up yourappointments. That's what I did.

Hi There

That seems about right. My referral was in August 2015. Did not get my orientation till Nov. 2015.Then I had to quit smoking and could not make an appointment till I was 3 months smoke free. Well I accomplished that and made the next appt. with the intake doctor (not the surgeon) in Feb.2016.

After that I had an appt. with dietitian and psychologist, this was March 2016.

April 2016 I was able to meet with the surgeon.

He wants a scopy done so that is the end of April. Expectations for surgery are in the ballpark of end of May beginning of June.

I have used this time to practice eating slower, not drinking water before or after I eat . I have also started a  walking a each day.

I have modified my diet to salad/soups and fish/chicken on the weekend.

I started drinking protein shakes in January and I drink 2 a day.

Hope this makes you feel better. It is a long process.

Thanks for the info - it makes sense... I just wi**** was going to move faster.  I think I was lead astray by the social worker because she kinda mentioned late spring and it got my hopes up.

I will just have to wait it out like everyone else...

I sure wished mine was going faster too. I am trying to put a positive spin on the weight loss surgery weight.

I am trying everything as if I have already had the surgery. I know that a lot of my weight has come from emotional eating. I am trying to be mindful of everything I am doing. It is something that has  never been suggested as a remedy. I am also doing alot of web surfing and learning everything I can.

Chin up ... focus on yourself and not the date.

cheers

You are completely right.  I will focus on myself and not the date.

Like you I have been watching my eating and added the protein shakes as well.  I am tracking my food on My Fitness Pal and so far so good.  Maybe if the process takes too long I won't even need the surgery.  I have been losing weight on my own just by tracking and making adjustments to my eating.  Exercise still isn't in sight for me but I hope that as I keep losing I will want to exercise.

2BHealthy gave you some good ideas. It is a time to figure out what you will do after surgery when you are bummed. Eating your feelings will not get you to where you want to be. Find ways now to deal with your eating. It will not go away
