Hello everyone.  I met Dr. Bhajani today at 2pm.  My surgery is booked 5 weeks from today - March 6th and I start my opti fast on February 20th for two weeks.  He asked me some questions about my past health, medical conditions, did a quick exam, and then went through the procedure and the risks.  He asked if there was some reason the RNY could not be done did I want the Sleeve ... I said yes - I really just want the RNY but I would hate to wake up from all of that and have nothing - he said if there was scar tissue from previous surgeries, that can present an issue ... hope it doesn't but I am not going to worry about it ....

well ... here we go - this just got real and I am SCARED ...

Its funny that those of us in Ottawa are asked to do the Optifast for 3 weeks, and you folks for 2 weeks.

What's up with that ;-)

I'd be done Opti today if not for the 3rd week still ahead of me, LOL

Dagwood - here is some positive thoughts for you ... on 3 weeks of Opti you will lose that much more before surgery AND your liver will be in much better shape for the surgery.  A lady in the waiting room in  Guelph was saying that when she initially went for her surgery and they tried to lift her liver, it still had too much fat in it, even after 2 weeks of opt, and they closed her up and couldn't do the surgery ... she had to start opti all over again and rebook the surgery and pre-op ... SO - 3 weeks, while I am sure is painful ... is that much more better for you.  YOU CAN DO THIS

Thank you Leeann,

I am doing ok on Opti, I was just wondering why the difference between programs.  I am enjoying the weight loss on Opti.  Impressive actually.
