How much should I be eating 4 weeks out?

I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow and have no idea how many oz I should be eating per meal. I'm not really following the example menus from the Bariatric Guide from TWH, just trying to get in a serving size to meet my protein intake. But I can eat 1 cup of soup at a meal, or 1/2 cup of chili or 3-4 oz of salmon. Is there a guideline of amounts we should be eating at this stage? I can't find anything in the guide. It just says, stop when you're full or feel discomfort and I never really do, so I'm not sure if my stomach is big or I'm not eating enough.

Well at your 1 month follow up at TWH you can ask.  When we were there we asked and they talked about a cup....it wasn't until the 3 month that they said you should be eating 3oz of meat.

Not sure this helps or not.

You're still pretty early out, so I would suggest staying around 1/2 cup total volume.  I think at 6 months out they are talking 1 cup total volume (brothy soups excepted).    Every Centre seems to have different guidelines.  Guelph told me no more than 2oz of protein at any one meal.  They also told me to eat more carbs like rice, pasta and bread (not going to happen right now, carbs give me cravings).  I get my carbs from salad and veg and believe it or not yogurt with all the fixings.

Windsor says 1/4 cup at 4 week out.

You would think we would have all the same guidelines lol

That's helpful, thank you. Sounds like perhaps I'm eating a bit too much at meals. I'll try and cut it down and eat a bit more often. Don't want to run the risk of stretching my stomach so early on.

You wouldn't have much feeling yet so I'd stop at 1/2 cup for now.  It can take a few months to get the feelings back after them cutting around.  Soups are sliders though so they would go right through so a cup of that would likely be okay but thicker things I'd stick to 1/2 cup for now.  I used to just cut up my meat and put it in the measuring cup then top it with veggies and that was my serving.

My centre and our guidelines suggest 1/4 @ (4) weeks out.

I am 7 weeks out and still only eat 1/4 cup...

No more then 2 oz of meat...ie.  2 poached eggs & 2 oz of tuna with avocado... (2) tiny veal meatballs...

Recently, I tried Tim Hortons small Chili- I ate 2 oz & saved the rest.

I have chosen to stay away from pasta, rice, bread or anything white.

The only thing that I eat that is 3 oz is my Greek Yogurt.

I don't eat because I am hungry and I never ever feel full.

I have adjusted what I eat to fulfill my protein & nutritional requirements so that I have stamina to work out daily!

I am going to continue doing this until I reach goal.

Hope this helps!

Take care

Sandra.

I wish twh would give a bit more parameters...i had asked for a calorie range and they didn't want me thinking in calories...

it would just help to stay on track..
