I'm glad you had a successful surgery. Every once in a while, someone is sleeved instead. I do understand it's a disappointment. No doubt it will be a great tool for you.

I wish you strength and healing as you recover and success with your weight loss.

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Choose happy.

I'm sorry to hear you and such a rough go of it and didn't receive your preference of surgeries.

I was sleeved by choice but had a very similar recovery. Lots and lots of nausea and vomiting. Ended up staying in the hospital for 3 days.

You will be just as successful with a sleeve as you would with an rny. You're super prepared and motivated from.what I've seen.

Feel free to pm if you have sleeve questions!

What type of surgeries make problematic scar tissue? I've had gallbladder removal (in 2000) and a c-sec with twins (in 2005). Would those types of surgeries interfere with a bypass?

Interesting about the non-rotation of intestines and other organs. I've been recently going to an osteopath (not knowing a lot about them when i started - but in general they work on skeletal and internal alignments - basically, the whole systems of the body). She is always talking about moving things (organs) around to get proper rotation and getting things "unstuck". I wonder if this would have helped and if going to an osteopath in general would help get you in better shape in general for surgery? Perhaps there's more to your situation than that.

Apparently 2 previous vertical C-section incisions and a umbilical hernia repair were my undoing to getting a bypass

Oh ok, thanks for clarifying. If it helps at all, my friend had a sleeve done at St Joes Hamilton last year and she lost 140 lbs! Who was your surgeon? She had Gmora. I'm getting mine done out of Hamilton too - but I'm just starting the process. Orientation next month.

That is encouraging news.

I'm sure if I follow my meal plan, and cut the carbs I will be successful. This sure is alot to go through and not have some measure of success.

My surgeon was Anvari, whom I only met while literally lying on the table and never saw again.

Best of luck to you on your wls journey

Apparently my non rotation is just a rareish genetic quirk that affects about 1 in 500-1000 people, give or take. Other than the fact that my appendix is on the wrong side of my body it doesn't truly cause issues. But, it IS a good thing to know because if I did end up with appendicitis, it would present abnormally. So I can chalk it up to the other fun stuff I learned while going through this process, haha.

Wow, that's crazy that it's on the wrong side! Definitely good to know!

Revision on 10/04/16

I was a lap band revision and was warned I might have scar tissue that would lead to a sleeve instead of RNY. Ive also had a breast reduction and c section and I ended up with RNY. I was lucky as Bands tend to cause a lot of damage.
