Frustrated

I'm so frustrated, it's been 2 weeks since my sergeon appt and still no call with a surgery date! I know I should be patient but it's so hard when your so close!

Oh believe me, I feel your pain! I actually took to calling everyday and eventually went to writing a letter to patient relations. Are you in Hamilton? Did they give you an approximate timeline? They are likely booking into January now. In Hamilton they won't have the surgery times until about December 15th. All I can say is call. Doesn't hurt anyone but can hopefully give you some answers.

I'm in Toronto at TWH, they told me I would be contacted within a couple of weeks. I called last week and asked and they told me no dates have been released yet! I dont know if I should keep calling or not, I don't want to **** them off. Lol

Just keep calling! Don't worry about annoying them.

And you take you phone with you everywhere and you are afraid you will miss that call. I know, I was there just a week and a half ago.

Then the call finally came. Now I have been on Optifast a week tomorrow with a week and a half to go.

You will get there! The phone will ring. I just feels like forever when you are ready to move on.

I know this is a frustrating time. I had the same thing happen when I met the surgeon.

Are you looking to have surgery right away, or in the new year? If right away, did you speak with Sharon, the surgical nurse about getting on a cancellation list?

Hi, I was hoping for this year to have the surgery. My husband even saved his holidays hoping I would have it this year but doesn't look like it's going to happen. I did talk to Sharon and she said there is no cancellation list as of last week! I will keep calling next week and hopefully something will happen.

Hey Suzy - don't despair just yet! I know each hospital is different but I was told in Ottawa that the surgical dates and times comes out in batches and then they fill the dates. Sometimes they get dates before they expect them so just make sure everyone who can schedule you knows that you are good to go!

What? No cancellation list??? That's bananas.

I would email her anyways. I would thank her for meeting you and let her know you are available on extremely short notice and would be willing to do your pre-op right away if that's helpful; that you know it will expire in three months and you're ok doing it again if you need to. But you're highly motivated and appreciate all her assistance, if there's anything she can do to help.

Just try try try!! Sharon is your best bet at this point, IMHO.
