Attention Apple Bodies - The Struggles

I have the worst apple shape. I take after my mother, who takes after her father. I have had a life long struggle with this. My legs and rear end are so skinny, while my upper body is huge. Giant waist, big boobs, wide shoulders and a round face. It's been impossible to lose weight in the right places. Needless to say, I don't carry my weight in an attractive way.

I have struggled endlessly with undies and pants falling down because my hips are half the size of my belly. Belts don't work at all and I have to tighten them making it so uncomfortable. Jeans used to be okay, but no longer comfortable or convenient for an office job.

Any apple-body ladies who struggled with this before your surgery? Did it get better?

Surgery in 2.5 weeks, and this has been a huge struggle that I am hoping gets better.

I best describe myself as Homer Simpson... but great question... I want to know as well!

So I am not an apple but I store fat evenly all over. I can tell you that for me I am finding that the weight seems to be shedding off. I have lost all over but definitely more in my face, neck and shoulders.

Hi SchnauzerMum.

I CAN TOTALLY RELATE! I look like the apple from the Canadian Food Guide. I had no bum, my legs are smaller than the rest of me and my torso was huge, along with my neck and face.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel. I am 5 months post surgery today. I have lost almost 90 pounds. I still look a bit like an apple but not as much as before. With working out my bum has rounded out a bit. My legs are total muscle (except in the thighs were there is saggy skin - but only I see that clothes cover it), my shoulders and neckline have defined. I still have back fat and belly fat to lose, but that is where I had to most fat to begin with. I am hoping to lose another 40 to 50 pounds and I am sure it will come off then.

So a long story short, it takes a while but yes it is changing and one day I am sure I will look like something other than a piece of fruit! We got this!

Congrats on your success and for giving me hope! I laughed at the comment about looking like the apple from the Canadian food guide. I had also forgot to mention the strain it has on the lower body is tiring!! I'd love to just be evened out.

Take a look at my before and after. It totally got better. I had no idea that fat apples are often more of an athletic build when they lose weight!

I wasn't an apple exactly because I had big legs and arms as well as a big torso and face, lol, but as I lose, I'm getting an hourglass shape, as viewed from the front. Despite the countless bike rides and walks, my butt is flat as a pancake, lol. My tummy is no longer bigger than my butt, which is a plus, lol, but it's about the same size now, lol. I'll be happy when I get that tummy down some more.
