When you say you started optifast are you replacing all meals with this product? Is it used before all WLS? When do you start it?

Yes, you are replacing all meals with Optifast. Optifast is used prior to surgery to shrink your liver. There is a medical weight loss program that uses Optifast as well but I'm not sure what that all entails.

You start Optifast based on your surgeon's directions. I know some people have been directed to use Opti for 3 weeks, while I got 2 weeks. I've even seen some people get 1 week.

I'm on day 3 now and it's not so bad. I had a blip yesterday but all good today.

Different programs call for different rules. I went to TWH and we replaced all meals with optifast.

The guideline is roughly 1 week per 100lbs of weight. If you weigh 200lbs = 2 weeks, 300lbs = 3 weeks, etc...

At The Ottawa Hospital you can have broth or sugar free jello as well. I just made them as cold as I could, slammed them back and got on with it. After a few days you barely notice the taste anymore. I live alone so I think it is easier that way than if you are still preparing meals for a family.

I know the newbies check the trackers and the signatures so although I kind of lost track of how the rest of the weight came off, you should know that it was not fast and furious but it was slow and steady!

current BMI 24.7 that, my friends, is NORMAL!!! Strong is the new pretty!

I was able to have 4 shakes and one streamed or raw veggies meal. Cauliflower, tomatoes, with fat free dressing.

Me too! Those veggies are pretty decadent these days. LOL

I found raw veggies were upsetting my stomach at week 3. So I steamed them from that point on.

I roasted the veggies in the oven and they tasted great.
