Has anyone experienced constipation due to hard stool after vsg? I can go a little tiny bit but you can feel a hard piece that just won't go all the way out and you can't pu**** out because of your stomach pain and risk of tearing. I have been taking lax a day for 5 days now. I am 18 days post op

Take a stool softener (Colace) morning and night. Stay hydrated. You might want to also try Duclolax or Senokot to get things moving.

Thanks, am I able to swallow the colace capsules? They are small and would it absorb ok? The liquid one burns my throat. I almost puked yesterday trying it

Yes, they are pretty small. I was sent home from the hospital with a prescription for them. Now I just buy the no name brand from Shoppers or Walmart.

You'll be fine with the Colace. I take it. Saved my life and my sanity. LOL

Nothing worked for me but Restoralax. Aka Laxaday. Before it was like I had a belly full of boulders but since using this I haven't had a problem since.

They prescribed Senokot plus a stool softener for me, but I'd already bought the combine one, so was good to go, I keep wondering if we'll have to take this for ever? It mentioned the first 30 days, I go back for my one month follow up next Wednesday, keep thinking I need to make a list of questions.

I take 2 capfuls of Restoralax daily in my morning coffee. Yes I still supplement with Colace and senokot as needed. Sometimes even Dulcolax, and I still don't go daily.

Hmmmm of course I never went daily before surgery, it just seem to be more of any issue now?
