Hey everyone,

Thanks for the reply! I went to the hospital, and my X-rays came back normal which is good. My lipase was a bit high, which is my pancreas marker. Emerg doctor said that might be due to surgery, but I have to go back in 48 hours to be rechecked!

I have a prescription for Zofran which is good, and it's what I took in the hospital! (Though very costly)

Thank you for checking in and suggesting that it's better safe than sorry! Funny, the discharge nurse called to check on me in the middle of it all!

I had surgery Monday, discharged Wednesday.

Everything was fine, I even stopped my pain meds and then on Thursday night I took the prescribed senekot for the first time.

By 3pm Friday (yesterday) I was extremely nauseous. Took gravol at 4:30, woke up around 8-8:30 still nauseous but now with constant severe stomach cramps. Around midnight they were no longer constant but coming in waves.

I took pain meds at 1am, woke up an hour ago and the cramps are still coming in waves! Still nauseous! (6:30am)

i know you guys aren't doctors, but I don't want to go if it's just a false alarm or reaction to the senekot! (Which I originally assumed) But over 12 hours of nausea?!?! Have any of you experienced this?

I believe opti is an exception.

It would be different if it was stuff for hair loss, or protein, or even clothes? lol.
I think we can all agree that Ontario patients require opti, and it helps all of us at some point or another.

Get that money back girl! I swear Opti is a scam anyway! lol

Hey everyone,

Thank you all so much for the support. It's so good to know that I have a good group of people, who understand this process fully! The good, bad and ugly!

As for my progress, I have not cheated again. Yes, it has been difficult. And yes, there are times when I want to throw a Caillou- esqe tantrum (LOL!) but I stuck to the diet! I found that motivation/wls pages on instagram have really really helped keep me on track. I think a key part of this journey, is identifying when there is a problem, and then reminding yourself the purpose of it all in the first place. There is no way I'm going to sacrifice what I have worked and waited for, over some momentary satisfaction.

Mind over matter. I'm less than a week away from the losers bench. WOOP WOOP!

Welp, I cheated. I mean had two meals cheated. Bad meals.

Yesterday.

I have had nothing bu****er today, and its nearly 10pm. I'm ready for bed, so I won't have anything until tomorrow.

The more I think back though, the more I realize just how much of an illness this is. I was never a person who binged, but I would eat like crap and when I got anxious I wouldn't eat for days. Yeah, it's a thing. A forever yo-yo minus the binge.' There's no denying it.

so now what? Well I identified the fact I made a bad choice. I know I need to be much more than on the ball the next few days. I didn't come for advice or judgement really, just to put it out there with people who get it. (Even if you didn't cheat, you understood the struggle). I think it's better to hold myself accountable on here, rather than in secret. Also, I know the surgeon will hold me accountable too. It's much easier to close a patient up, than perform RNY with a big liver. I'm disappointed, but I'm so far from hungry that I feel sick.

I have my opti and I have my sugar free syrup. I'm ready for the next week. Surgery is in 8 days. I can do this!

I'm just kidding.

This stuff sucks.

Like cardboard infused, liquid playdough.

I'm drinking 2-3/day instead of 4 so far. I'm trying. It's not the lack of food, but the taste.
I figured that if maybe I go around chanting "I DO love optifast! I DO!" to myself, then maybe it will happen.

Wishful thinking, I know.

Hey,

I'm at the surgeon appointment stage in this journey. When I was referred last year, I was 20! I am now 21! I've heard many people say how incredible it is to make this move while we are young. Our bodies are a little more adaptable to change, and our skin has a better chance of bouncing back! (Not fully, but better than most)

feel free to add me on here. Congrats on getting to this point. Hopefully it won't be too much longer now! Keep us updated!

I'm starting at 5'1, 255lbs btw!

Good morning! Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

CrqvingChange, thank you for inviting me on the thread!

I'm starting my day with a long shower, and some coffee.
I'm making a lunch to bring to work, that will have sliced hard boiled egg and kale salad.
For dinner, I have a small portion of basmati rice, steamed broccoli, and over baked chicken breast.

I'm also bringing a berry smoothie that I made this morning.

I'm hoping to be off work at 8pm, so I can go for a walk and then tidy the apartment.

My goal for the day is... to drink lots of water, and get outside for that walk!

Very similar to what Lisa C expressed, I've felt awful lately and I am at my absolute lowest point. Had a meltdown in the middle of the mall with my little sister the other day, and I felt so bad.

I'm 20 years old, and use to be a social butterfly. Always happy, always positive. The life of the party, always outside or with friends. But over the past year, and especially in the last 3 months, I have become a total recluse. I'm at my highest weight EVER. It is UGLY, and nothing fits now. If I'm not at work or school, I'm laying in bed feeling sorry for myself--- that's gotta stop. It's bad physically and mentally.

THAT SAID--- I came here tonight for the first time in a few weeks. I want to express my gratitude for you guys, both pre-op and post-op. I know this is a lengthy journey, and it feels hopeless at times, but I'm reminded that there is a new chapter waiting for me on the bench. I'm ready to be healthy, to repair my ankle when the weight is off, and be active.

As you can see via my signature, my homestretch is close but so far away. I've been calling for cancellations, but TWH is a NIGHTMARE to get through to. I just hope that I get through one of these days, to speed it up a bit. Maybe I'll take the train, and "pop" in.

"Hey Andrew, I'm not here for an appointment but... got any of those cancellations?"
"Uhm Allyce, don't you live in Oshawa?"

Topic: RE: Self loathing

I've been having a lot of trouble with this lately too. I work as a server/bartender and have gained 65 pounds since I started there in June 2015. It's a big difference, and patrons actually mention the weight gain. (Ouch!)

But yknow, the last week or so I've really been psyching myself up to ease those feelings. I look at my peers/patrons/coworkers and realize that these people will not recognize me in a few months from now.

I walked into Torrid in the Oshawa Centre the other day, and thought "Someday real soon, I will NEVER walk into a plus sized store -- EVER again. I will never again have to sacrifice nice clothes for clothes that fit, or spend $60 on ONE top because that's all that will fit me."

And then today at Costco, I went through the Vitamin/Protein powder isles in awe. While a lifetime of supplements may sound bad to some, all I keep thinking is the new lease on life that will come with them. By Christmas of this year, our surgeries will be over with--- and it's not that far.

I still HATE going into work and feel a general discomfort, but I know that this is all coming to an end. And that end will be permanent. This isn't it, this isn't final--- with dedication and discipline, we are on our way to a new chapter in our lives. While it won't be easy, and there may be some self esteem/loathing challenges as we lose weight, I know it will be worth it. We are CHOOSING to change our lives, and I think this takes the most courage and dedication of all. For this alone, we should be proud.

Be good to yourself. This is temporary. Cliche as it may be, it's always darkest before the dawn. xox

Hey everyone,

So as you can see in my signature, I'll be meeting with the SW soon, and the NP soon after. In the meantime, I'm getting blood work done, filling out those questionnaires and writing food journals.

What should I expect though? What should I expect from each of them?

Do people get denied at these appointments, and for what reasons?

People keep telling me, "Oh you're so young, why do you need that?" and I really hope that the team doesn't see it that way. I've done everything from Weigh****chers, crash diets to Dr. Bernsteins. I was most successful on Bernsteins, but I became very sick as their doctor didn't pay attention to my blood work or how horrid I looked. Although my family doctor has been on me about my weight for years, he made me promise never to do that sort of thing again.

Thankfully I did a program at Sick Kids for about 4 years, that teaches you about nutrition, exercise, and the surgeries as a whole. Hopefully that will look good to them!

Thank you in advance,

Allyce

 Hey everyone,

I have a question or two. For the past few months, I have had a very bad problem with heartburn. Not only does it cause me to make weird noises as I fall asleep, (without realizing) but it also makes my entire mouth, throat & tongue "cold"/numb every so often.

Because I've seen my doctor a lot lately, I wanted to wait to bring this up at my upcoming appointments. (Praying for some cancellations too) How does GERD affect my process? I realize the sleeve will probably be off the table, but will I need further testing of some sort, or to see another doctor?

For now, I'm eating a lot of tums & sleeping on my side.

Thank you in advance!

I'm actually really thankful that I begin appointments in March, because I have to go for surgery #2 on my knee. Hoping for January or February. I will be seeing Dr. Luba in Scarborough for my knee, and Dr.Oglivie-Harris for my ankle. I also start back to school in just 2 short weeks. Based on these things and how busy I'm going to be, I'm sure it will all go by very very fast.
