well it's 2 days after your surgery.. too early to tell if you're "happy" or not! i had a full abdominalplasty as well as a mons lift and LOVE LOVE LOVE it.. i was 2 years out and "finished" with my weight loss (are you ever finished) but was down to a very happy weight for me!
i had an amazing surgeon, Michael Kreidstein out of Scarborough and I now have an awesome smiley face from one end of my hips to the other.. doesn't bother me tho. I have a numbness in the groin area, but the doc told me i would.. no biggie. i also got a new belly button much to my surprise! i think that's just for asthetic reasons.. cuz what does a belly button really do.. think it would look weird without one. i was a lucky one i guess, i only took 2 weeks off work but i do have a desk job, no one even knew i had had surgery... i could still walk etc. and .. i left the hospital with a script for oxycotin and tylenol 3's; filled them but never needed them.. but we are all different!
with lovely covid i put on some weight, yep, not gonna lie and it landed in / on my midriff so i have a bit of a muffin top which i had asked the doc about and he just smiled! if that's what i have to put up with so be it.. but i'm back at the gym and back on track so i'm sure in time that will dissolve too!
i wore a binder for 6 weeks after surgery.. that was my choice tho, after 2 weeks the doc said i didn't have to wear it but i felt more comfortable and all tucked in. paranoid maybe?? but didn't hurt either!
the doc had also suggested a cream for the scar so it wouldn't appear thick... but i didn't bother with that. and .. the scar didn't seem to "thicken up".
i would never had believed what could be done if i hadn't had it done myself.. amazing work!!
good luck to you!!

I too just had my 9yr surgiversary... Jan 11, 2012 - got off of 9 out of 11 pills, got rid of my cpap machine.. was type 2 diabetic. Lost more than half my body weight! DIDN'T lose any hair luckily! BUT took biotin a year before surgery!
Try to educate yourself as much as possible! Join many support groups - check out facebook! Outweigh the pros and cons!! Think about your future. You will get healthier!!! and thinner... but my goal was to get healthier!! Sure it's nice to wear smaller sized clothing but I can now move and run and breathe better! And who knows where I would be today if I stayed on the wrong side of the road. You probably won't be in the hospital long and will appreciate the time to yourself!
Just keep thinking about why you started your journey!! You will find the answer BUT ... you can always change your mind.. some have even before they were wheeled into the O/R. It's your life... it's your decision!
The only regret I have is not doing it sooner!!

I had RNY January 2012, and I too have had an embarrassing regain in the last 3 years of a total of 42lbs.... first "excuse" was moving to a small town where I didn't know anyone and the fact that I lost my only sister 2 weeks after our move; second "excuse" was getting cut off EI because I took a retail job for 3 HOURS (previously was an office worker) ... and the list goes on... and of course, the latest "excuse" was covid. All excuses.. ALL my own fault! joined WW a year ago; myself, I need the accountability factor in person!! Then I got hurt and had to stop going. (perhaps another excuse but I did good at WW).
I too went to all my clinic weigh-ins faithfully, did amazing the 1st year... the pounds peeled off... and now it's time to wake up and get back on track!! Because of WLS I got healthy... wasn't just about what I saw in the mirror (which, I always saw and still do, see the fat girl).
I was one of those "faithful" OH followers. I lived on OH prior to WLS and probly the 1st year after surgery.. then it was weekly, monthly and now ... I peak in once in a while. Made some great friends - went to a few support groups - local coffee meet with Myke, went to Mississauga to have coffee with Karen and the most regular one was the Burlington group with Linda. And now since covid hit... was hoping some would do "zoom" meetings but couldn't seem to find any. Seems like facebook has taken over where OH left off (IMO).
I keep reading about regain all over the place.. doesn't make me feel any better that I'm not alone.. that it might seem "common"... and once in a while I turn to OH to see who's posting and yep, no one I recognize is here.
Makes me real sad I don't recognize anyone anymore... but I guess time marches on and f/b has taken over.
Good luck to everyone!! WLS might "fix" our bodies but it doesn't fix our minds!!

oh how I miss Karen and those coffee meets in Mississauga... I hope she is doing well... I don't visit OH much anymore... sadly, and when I do I don't recognize anyone anymore either!! So sad... when I fist started my journey I LIVED on OH... of course tho, that was pre-facebook and found so many support groups there!!

Hi Dawn... yes this site sure has changed from the "old days".... prior to surgery I used to live on this site ... then had surgery and visiting this site slowed down.. now I hardly recognize anyone. Thanks to facebook I guess. Take care of you!!!

I agree with Diminishing Dawn... there's a person on a Hamilton facebook group "Hamilton Bariatric Surgery Support Group and she also is a member of this forum; and she started with an RNY, then Sleeve and is now waiting for a DS... so I'd think you'd be a great candidate for a revision. There are also other RNYer's that have taken saxenda..not all successful mind you after they stopped taking saxenda... but myself I've tried Weigh****chers and have been successful until covid. Not sure where you live but something to think about! Good luck!!!

GREAT POST!! some need to remember, that WLS is a TOOL.. and not a solution... and after the honeymoon stage or even during when they've hit a stall... they start looking for a "diet" to go on... or they want to fast or just do shakes... isn't this why we had WLS to begin with?? that didn't work!! OUR heads need to make the tool survive... great post!!!

like you... i only told my hubby, son and sister... and the green eye'd monsters at work.. wanted to know all the secrets...as they always did when i was on a diet.. and like seriously.. if i told them.. were they going to try it too?? who cares how i lost the weight.. if they were really happy they should have just said that.. anyways..as you know i've been struggling lately.. joined all kinds of support groups... but.. always come back to the OH site! thanks for your continual postings!!
take care of you
