38DDD, Reduction/Implant
Hi, I have a size 38-40DDD now. I have always had a 36DD until the birth of my son and now WOW! My question is has anyone big chested had a reduction without an implant? If so, how do they look? My ps told me I would need a reduction and lift. I really just wanted a lift, I don't mind the size. He said I should be a C, a C, no way! I was thinking a big D at least. I am wondering if I will need implants or the br/bl should be enough? Thanks!

I would definitely consult with more than one surgeon -- unless you've already decided on this particular surgeon because it is a specialty. For example, I knew which breast reconstructive surgeon I was going to use because he was "the best" around. He did all the cancer patients and I had a severe case, i.e., my breasts were living in South America! I can't remember what size I was going into the surgery though it may be in my profile. My surgery was in June of 2005. However, I was concerned about being proportioned and not being too small. Sometimes even the best of surgeon's can't know how the tissue will move and/or settle until they are in the OR so we ordered the smallest implant and I left the decision up to him. I made certain that he understood that I wanted to be a "full C." After the swelling went down and things settled, I was a 36 C. Now for the warning............let anyone else chime in here as well.............. Although I had reached my goal weight at the time of my BL, my body shifted and shrank and I lost down to a size 4/6. It has been two years and I'm still wearing a 4/6. I can purchase pants in a size 6 off of any rack or site with no problem. I USED to be able to buy a size 6 suit and not wonder either. Now, well................... MY BOOBS GREW!!!!!!!!! It is so wild. I have not gained weight. I have not changed bras (I wear good, expensive bras) but my boobs grew and I am now a full size up at a FULL D. Since, I have been brave about saying this, I am finding that this is more common than I thought. My sister had an augmentation and lift to a full D and she became a DD -- BEFORE she got pregnant. Now, she is HUGE and looking to have a REDUCTION. I keep hearing about people who grow another size after their lift/reduction. I met a girl who has had THREE reductions because they just keep growing back! I don't know if it's age related because of hormones. I'm puzzled. Looking back though, I am so glad that I didn't opt to be a D or I'd be looking into a reduction because if I get any bigger, I am going to have size problems. What I mean is that I can barely button up a suit top/jacket/dress size 6 but it fits perfectly everywhere else so that if my breasts become any larger, to fit me in the breasts, clothing would have to be altered to fit properly everywhere else. I had to give away some of my blouses / tops because they no longer fit me in the breast section. Bizarre. That said, you may want to specifically ask the surgeon about this "phenomenon" of growing breasts!?!?!!?!? I hope this helps!
I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side. The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.
