Have any of you ladies had to get off birth control pills 2 weeks before surgery and wait to get back on them a month after surgery? I was told by surgeon to gett off for a month because it may cause the blood to clot....PLEASE let me know if you had to do this!!! Thank you in advance!!

I was using the Nuva-Ring, but yes I stopped it the month prior to my WLS and plastics.

My PS told me to get off the pill a month before surgery.   He didn't give me a timeline to resume them.  But birth control pills can raise the chance of blood clots.  As much as we can bleed with the procedures, I will happily comply.

It's mostly the estrogen in the pills that are the problem.  If you are worried about having no coverage during that time (I would be!) you can ask for a depo shot or the mini-pill which is progesterone only and see what they say.
