Okay I have my TT scheduled for Sept 26th at 10 am and  I am super nervous. I have 3 kids a 4 month old a 2 year old and a 6 year old I have my mother in law helping me with the two younger ones for a few days but after that ill be on my own. How long do you think itll be before im able to walk around and stand comfortably? What things should I Buy before surgery? My parents are being very negative towards me about the surgery they feel that im making a mistake and that I wont be able to handle the pain have any of you had the same problems with family members? Its very depressing I have my husbands support but he works 2nd shift and wont be home all the time so I feel like im going thru this alone

Tough one.  Even if you feel okay after a few days, you'll have a lifting restriction (no more than 10 or 15 lbs, depending on the doctor) for the first 4-6 weeks.  I suspect your 4 month old is going to be too heavy for you to handle.  You run the risk of hernias if you lift too heavy, too soon.  Not to mention it'll hurt like heck!

Assuming the doctor does muscle repair as part of the tuck, you'll be walking hunched over for a good week or more.  Your back hurts from walking hunched over.  You're on pain meds and feel like ****  I really think you need help with the little ones for more than a few days.

There isn't a whole lot for you to buy before surgery.  Find out what kind of post-op bandaging your doc expects you to do on your incision and get the supplies for that.  Have some comfortable, easy to get into and out of clothes handy - the simpler, the better.  Increase your protein consumption before surgery and keep it high after to promote healing.

I recall that even at one week post op I could not stand straight.

As for your parents, it is YOUR body and your money and you are an adult woman. Enough said.

Here is a list of things that I bought http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/160589/bariatr ic-life-tells-tummy?ap=831

and things I'd wished I bought http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/160590/bariatr ic-life-tells-tummy?ap=831

Also, you may want to prepare for the emotional changes you will go through following the surgery. This book about WLS emotions may help because it really is covering the same issues http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/162543/practic al-bariatric-surgery

Good luck!!!
