14 days out- torsoplasty and mastoplasty

2 weeks ago, I finally had my torsoplasty and mastoplasty with Dr Fasching in Minnesota :). I had lots of extra skin, so I opted to also get the fleur de lis (vertical incision).

My mastoplasty (breast lift) resulted in hardly any pain! My nipples are very sensitive, and I am wearing a wireless soft bra 24/7, for comfort- even my pjs touching the nipples was annoying! I think I've gotten feeling my back in 99% of my breasts.

I think I lost about 6 lbs of skin from my torsoplasty. I am taking 3 weeks off from work. I got my drains out at 9 days out. I stopped prescription pain meds at 7 days out. I am now down to 2 ibuprofen a day- right before bed. At 9 days out, dr said I could start resuming activity like an 80 year old- I can go out and about a little, but should lay down when I'm home.

3 "complications"

1) I had horrible hip pain due to the binder for 4 days. There was swelling and bruising at the incision site, and it was so painful to the touch! Nothing really helped except putting foam in those spots, trying not to lay on my sides, and just waiting. As of yesterday, it felt much better.

2) I used a recliner during the day, until dr appt on day 8. This caused swelling to settle in my lower abdomen, giving me a Buddha belly below the belly button. Dr was not too happy, and says he told me to not use recliner. To fix this issue, I have a smaller, lower binder, and need to spend a week with no recliner and little sitting- I either should be walking or laying down.

3) My incisions are mostly healing good. However, my rear "tail" one, where everything comes together, has a "weird little tear shaped pimple looking bump with yellow under the skin about pimple sized" (per hubby) that I'm going to ask the dr about today. The good news is that the little "diaper rash" back there is gone now.

if you have any questions, please ask :)

Could you explain what a torsoplasty is? Where are your incisions for this? I'm having trouble visualizing it!

My surgeon recommended soft cup things for my nipples if they got too sensitive after mastopexy - they're like absorbent cups for nursing mothers? That might help you with the sensitivity. My main issue was that my nipples were erect for MONTHS post-op. All the time. And the left one would hurt when I got cold. It still does, actually, but I've learned how to mitigate it.

Weird that you're taking ibuprofen since it's an NSAID. I hope you're taking a PPI to go along with it.

I've seen some pretty damned active 80 year olds ;)

I'm glad your hip pain has resolved!

Funny about the no recliner thing!

I have a same weird spot at the middle top of my butt crack where the incision comes together. There's a little ripple there now, but I'm the only one who could ever notice it, so no big deal :)

Glad you're healing well!

Looks like a torsoplasty is just another name for a lower body lift: https://www.wellnesskliniek.com/en/thigh-body/body-lift

I couldn't have survived my LBL without the recliner. Mostly, due to the muscle tightening, I couldn't get to a lying down flat position for almost four weeks post-op.

Yes, I was thinking that? But then she's mentioned incisions in places that I didn't have incisions, so I'm confused. It sucks that there is no common lexicon for reconstructive surgery procedures!

Ditto about the laying flat post-LBL. A wedge pillow did help for being in bed, but getting out of bed was really, really hard.

Note- even though I had the little Buddha belly swelling, so glad I had the recliner! Week one would have sucked without it!!

A torsoplasty is basically skin removal, with a bonus butt/thigh/ladyparts lift :). I have an incision all around me, just under the panty line, and then one that dissects the front of me, from below the panty line to the breast bone. I have the vertical incision due to the very large amount of extra skin in my front.

Since I had a VSG, my doctors have always been ok with me taking NSAIDS, though I sometimes take PPIs, due to reflux that never went away entirely.

My little issue in the back was a little worse today- about a 1/4 of an inch, yellow, and obviously a small incision opening. Spoke to doctor, and he wants me to change my dressing and clean it twice a day, and if it gets very swollen, or I get a fever, or it gets a lot worse, I need to come in before my appt next week. He said this type of thing is pretty common...

Ah, it definitely sounds like what I had just with a different name and the addition of the vertical incision.

The ASMBS started recommending no NSAIDs for VSGers a few years ago, which is why I was surprised! But, hey, if it works for you.

Yeah - I had a few similar small wound separations. Same advice - keep them clean and dry, watch for signs of infection. Good luck!

Update: Its been over a year! Wow, time flies... I love love my overall results! No hanging tummy, and I can go braless whenever I want! Only one issue was... I had a weird indentation from the tummy tuck. I had a revision a few months ago, and now it's great :) I highly recommend my doctor, and the 360 with BL :)
