  • Are there any types of "go fund me" fundraiser page's specifically for post weightloss surgery patients needing to get skin removed? I'm not even talking implants or that type of procedide, but thigh lifts,. Tummy tucks/panniculecyomys.etc.
  • I'd like to start a go fund me, but preferably not be laughed at in the process. I've spend the last 11 years losing weight, exercising and keeping it off but exercise isn't going to shrink skin and I believe a surgery for me would cost between $15,000-$20,000!!! I'm 32yr old and we're a 1 income family with 2 beautiful babies (ain't no mama got that kinda cash laying around...) I'm terrified that I'm going to be trapped in this "skin suit" for the rest of my life. I want to be able to run and play with my kids! I don't want these years to pass be my because I can't afford the surgery.
  • Help, advice, suggestions are all welcome!
  • I'm even going to.post my actually phone# plase.text only (no calls) 724-730-7409.
  • FYI I live I'm NE Ohio

Sure, you can make a Go Fund Me for anything. Making one and promoting it here is a bad idea.. but you can always try to hit people up for money through your social networking sites and friends. You might annoy a lot of people in the process, but you can still do it.

In the meantime, you might consider working with a therapist to help your brain adjust to the skin and not feel so trapped.

Also, you posted this five months ago --

"My highest weight was 330lb, my lowest weight was 315lb, I'm currently about 278lb"

Are you at your goal weight now?

It seems like you have time to figure out the money, then. You could get a job, or a second job. Babysitting might be an option. Home day care, depending on your home situation. You could wait until your kids are in school. Find ways to cut costs in life if you can.

Life is full of choices. You are choosing not to work outside the home. Plenty of couples work different shifts so that someone is home with the children all the time. If you wanted to raise money for your plastic surgery, you could.

I believe most people would have similar thoughts if you were to set up a go-fund-me. Honestly, I do not know of anyone who has been successful raising money this way.

There are a lot of things you could do. You could get a job, make sure your credit score is good and take out a loan, get rid of non-essential things like cable, move to a smaller house, etc.

Where there is a will there is a way.

There's actually a pretty significant number of them who have raised a lot of money on Instagram for their surgeries and had them in Mexico. I can think of three off the top of my head that have had the whole shebang worth of procedures on someone else's dime.

I personally think that most GoFundMe's are a load of crap and I hate the trend towards creating one for everything and therefore diluting the situations where someone may actually require one (ie: the death of a close family member, or a house fire).

Yes, but those are usually people who have kept an ongoing blog and have lots of followers. I do not know of any random people (like this person) who get money this way.

Also some plastic surgeons do it pro-bono if they know the person blogs and will be posting before/after pictures.

Personally I would not dare to do a Go fund me for plastics. I understand about loose skin. I always kid that I am wearing my sports car with all the skin removal I've done. You could discuss with family. Get a second job etc.. I live in Canada and we dont get anything covered except for a panni and breast reduction but it all depends on where you live. In my weight loss journey I knew there would be skin issues. I would choose what really bothers you the most a save towards it. Most PS would not even consider skin removal until you are close to your goal weight and stable. From other post it did not seem you are down to goal yet. Even if you can put $5-10 bucks a week in your plastic jar it will add up quickly. Good luck in your journey.

i am wondering why anyone would want to donate for plastic surgery for someone they don't know. It is not like it is life threatening for you to have extra skin.

Why would you expect other people to to this for you when you are perfectly capable of doing it for yourself?

nearly everyone on this site needs/ wants plastics. None of them are asking perfect strangers to fund it.
