Low fat cream cheese is a good protein source.  Again, watch getting back to carbs.  There are water crackers, the big flat ones in the gourmet areas, that are very low in calories. That is what I ate at first.  Now I stay away from crackers and bread as much as I can, as they can be my downfall I am afraid.

You know,..thats funny you say that about the water crackers,......I was gonna pick up the box when I went to the groceries but I rememberd my nut guide had melba toast so I didn't. I love those,...see the whole reason I gained weight was not the food I ate but the OVER EATING and not exercising. I used to be able to eat what ever I wanted because I worked out all the time,..then,...scrrreeeeech!!! Bam! Car accident, hurt back, no work out, continue the eating habits!! Bam!!!!  10 years,195 to 400 Warp Speed!!!!!

Melba Toast might be easier on the stomach early out.  I didn't have trouble with the water crackers though.  I think there is alot less of everything per serving of the crackers, wonder if your Nut would say they were ok?   Ah that makes sense on your story now.  I just know that to stop the weightloss when goal is reached, everyone says to increase carbs. So I would take that as carb increase would stop weightloss at any stage.  That is why I warn against them so much too.

Kristi, water crackers?  Do you know the brand?  Are they good?  I have had a few whole wheat crackers but they leave kind of a funny taste... even with soup.  And I actually love whole wheat things.  I haven't really tried any bread and prefer to stay away from it myself.  I just bought some whole wheat tortillas this evening to try a homemade "pizza."  I'll use fat free cheese & turkey pepperoni.  Thanks!

Sounds wonderful...my nut told me to try crackers instead of bread...I haven't tried melba yet but I eat Nabisco's Harvest Five Grain Wheat Thins baked snack crackers 10 calories per cracker...some protein and very low sugar.  Good Luck experimenting... Blessings...jenna

My nut recommended triscuts (I got the reduced fat ones) and rye crisps (which I haven't tried yet).  Suprisingly, she said to stay away from wheat thins.  The lowfat triscuts seems to agree with me.  I eat them with the buffalo chicken dip I made for Christmas (all with fat free or reduced fat).

My dietician said melba toast was good so I had it with peanut butter for my snack when I was at about your stage post-op.  Haven't had it for awhile but I do get the low fat Phlly  veggie cream cheese and have that as a snack on crackers now and then.

I am a huge fan of Reduced Fat Triscuits. I eat them with tuna, a slice of turkey (one slice makes 4 crackers, canusually on eat three) Wendy's chili is good on them. I ea tthose and 1/2 of a 100 percent whole wheat MINI pita. and I usually cant even finish the half. At our stage... Make sure anything you eat is very crispy. The toastier things are for me like the triscuits and the pita the better I do. I have not had the pita in a week tho, last time i ate it before i went x mas shopping, i threw up in the parking lot... I had 3 triscuits today with a litte wendy's chili. One small wendy's chili lasts me two to three days..usually wont eat it after day two tho... i am going to buy the lowfat cream chease. Maybe put some on a Kashi waffle.

Old London makes a Whole Grain Melba toast.  I just tried it tonight, it tasted like the real deal and was healthier.    2 g protein, 2 g fiber, 60 calories for three slices.
