I am almost 2 mths post op and still can't swallow pills. I have been taking zoloft for years and since the surgery I havent been able to take it. We have alot going on in our lives right now and needless to say my family and myself are much happier when I have much happier when I have my zoloft. I found that they have liquid zoloft. The taste is awful. It said to dilute it before taking. Hard headed me thought "oh 1 tsp isnt that much I can just chug it.", wrong!!!!! It numbed my mouth and throat and I puked for hours. I talked to my pharmacist and he did some research and said to try it with crystal light. I am going to try it tonight but am so scared of being sick like that again. It was awful!!!!! Does anyone else have an experience with liquid zolft?????? HELP PLEASE!!!! Or any other suggestion for a liquid anti depressant or chill pill????

thank you!!!! wendy

I'm not sure; I was taking Zoloft pills the day after my surgery, that and my synthyroid....I guess I would try it in either the CL or maybe a protein shake, I know I throw all kinds of stuff in my shakes...
Wishing you the best~
Mel

When they had me crush my nighttime meds and mix it with some broth, I puked for at least an hour.

It was then and there that I decided that I would swallow the pills intact. I still gag most nights when I take 'em, but I do get them down and its much better than crushing and diluting.

I am unfamiliar with Zoloft. Is the pill just too big or is it SR and thats why you need the liquid?

Zoloft is a small pill.  Are you not able to swallow pills due to a problem? or per your surgeons instructions?
Going cold turkey off an SSRI drug can be dangerous both mentally and physically.

As some others have said, I too, was swallowing pills the day after surgery.  Some meds just cannot be missed.

Good luck,

I haven't had my surgery yet but the zoloft I take is in capsule form which I'm hoping to be able to pull apart and sprinkle in something not for sure yet if this is going to be an option but you might want to check on this.
Trish
Do NOT pull any capsule apart and sprinkle in ANYTHING.

Speak with your doctor and/or trusted pharmacist first.

Many meds that come in capsules say right on them DON'T crush, pull apart, etc. and for good reasons.

Wendy...

I dunno why your pharmacist didn't tell you, they can flavor your Zoloft like they do for kid's cough medicines.  I took liquid Depakote for many months after my surgery and the pharmacist flavored  it~ Watermelon.  It didn't taste a thing like watermelon, but it tasted better than the plain ole flavor.

You have to ask your doctor to "perscribe" the flavoring..they won't just add it at the drug store.

Good luck to ya,
Dawn

Squidsmom,
Just a fyi from my comment I was suggesting this person check on this as an option not to run out and do this I have had to do this previously to back off ineffective anti-deppresants and it worked for me but by all means I would not tell someone to do this without checking with their own physican or pharmicist.
