I loved Sushi b4 WLS... now I can eat the fish, veggies, seaweed, & wasabi, but not the rice!

Rice is my pouch's worst enemy!

Love it! I usually get the sashimi, but have eaten a few bites of rolls with small amounts of rice.

I'm 5 or 6 weeks out now, and was wondering the same thing!  I'm afraid the sticky white rice would not be good though.  Also worried a little about the seaweed.  I'm interested in hearing other's experiences with it!

I loooooooove the Sashimi

I can eat a couple of complete pieces, but then I just start gutting the rolls and eat the innards.

I love sushi and while I can eat a bite or two of rice, I don't do it very often.  The nori on sushi hates me though.  I basically pick the rolls I love (usually a tuna with avocado and cucumber) and take it home, pull it apart and eat only the insides.  Sometiemes you can ask them to make it without rice and I went to a place this summer that had a Lo-carb roll that was wrapped in cucumber.  Yum!

There is also a local restraunt here that has a tuna tartare which is basically a tuna roll without rice.

Hope this helps!

My nutritionist said sushi is awesome for us - BUT SANS the RICE its is BAD..

You can as your sushi chef for rolls to be wrapped in the following

(not sure how this reacts with Pouch) Rice paper
Seawead
cucumber
Ginger strips
Lettuce
Spinach leaf
Turnip ( the stuff they shred that is opaque)

I have had Sashimi twice already this week! it has been great. I'm 4 weeks Post op. What i get is 3 slices of tuna, 1 slice of salmon and 2 slices of eel. great stuff! Just remember no rice, Tea or Misou soup. The Tea and soup are no good to drink and then eat. Gotta remember that 15 minute before and 30 min after rule. Sushi is a great source of Protein, most cuts are roughly 20 grams for 3 oz portions. I'm not sure on the eel though.... its just a guilty pleasure of mine. MMM..... make the wife go ew,  lol.

I love sushi!  I am a year post op and I am still experimenting a bit.  I have found I have trouble with the seaweed wrapping-  so I opt for the rice paper rolled ones.  I dunk my piece in sauce and chew chew chew!!  So far I have not had a problem with any of it sticking.

At three weeks post op you are already on solid foods?  Seems I remember being on baby foods a lot longer than that.
