Pintos & Cheese from Taco Bell???
OK so I know that I am probably in the minority here but why why why would you want to go back to fast food? I know that for me fast food is a huge part of the reason that I was almost 400lbs.
Yes fast food is convenient but its so bad for you weather it be the fat, sugar, carbs or even the sodium, all of them are usually more than one person needs for a couple of days. Honestly, I would rather just cook something at home and eat on that for a couple of days, I know whats in it, I know how many calories, fats and sugars are in the food. Even though fast food smells wonderful when you drive by the restaurant it just never tastes the same, to me anyway.
I, like I'm sure everyone else has, have worked too hard to get approved for this surgery but to just throw it all away by slipping back into my old habits and addictions is a waste. Personally, I am trying to make a new and healthier life for myself after this surgery and honestly with even as hard as it is for me to resist it, fast food is just not part of that plan.

I have to agree with Christina. I am shocked so many people do this. Better to buy FF cans of pinto or refried beans and make your own with the seasonings you can tolerate (lo/no salt), then you can put some FF cheese on them and use the greek yogurt instead of sour cream. I finely dice some onion and green peppers and mix in. I also make pico de gallo to help season things up and have not had any problems toerating as long as used in moderation.
Actually to answer your question I am not going back to fast food. I am now beginning to be on my pureed / soft food stage. So therefore, I am limited to what I can eat. So with that being said. Fast food did not get me overweight beacuse I Hardly EVER went out to eat fast food, what got me overweight is eating more than what I should have at my own home, or family houses, gatherings etc... Now I have come to far to start eating fast food or wat not, and If I shall eat it, it definitely will not be a part of my daily routine. It is something that I am going to buy in a can hence "Taco Bell Fat free Refried Beans".
Have a good day :) Remember everyone is different!

if i couldnt eat a little here and there at a fast food restaraunt, i would feel outcasted, like an alien.
when i used to go to mcdonalds i would get the extra value meal, big soda, and dont forget the apple pie. now i get the salad and have a water.
At taco bell it would have been 5 tacos, a coke and dessert. now its 1 taco and water.
its not really bad to eat out now and again, it keep us feeling human and not different than other people...and works great when you are busy and on the run with no time to cook, or if you happen to be out with other people who want to stop at that restaraunt.
check out the label of some the foods you are cooking at home...some contain worse ingredients than a fast food place! good choices. information. moderation.
I dont feel it was the "restaraunt" that made us fat and unhealthy... it was OUR choices AT that restaraunt.

Correct, it was the choices that I made at that restaurant. I also know that I have a food addiction therefore I know that it is really hard for me to make the good choices at restaurants. Because I know that I have a food addiction, I choose to stay away from eating at fast food restaurants because I know that once I start eating there again, it will become an everyday thing.
Im 7 years out...and it is hard to remember way back at the beginning. i dont think i even went near a fast food place for at least a year! post op diets back then were a chewable flinstones twice a day, an ounce of jello twice a day, an ounce of cream of wheat twice a day (as tolerated), and at least 1/2 gallon of water sipped slowly. This was for at least 2 months!!!
when i finally started solids (at 2-3 months post op), it was mashed potatoes with no toppings and V8 juice was added....yep, real old school. (wow, V8 never tasted so good though!)
when people talk about eating out at taco bell it automatically makes me think they are a year out or so, because i never would have even considered going near a place like that for a long time. actually the doctors back then put the scare of god into you in regard to eating REAL food, and it is so different now! :-)
to be honest, i think doctors allow too much food TO fast. but thats JMHO.
sometimes i forget that right after surgery it is such a new way of eating is ~SO NEW right after surgery....it has become second nature to me after 7 years and i forget that when i post.
yes, i think new post ops need to get over old habits and adapt new ones....and that takes a little time. then as time goes by and you are more solid and comfortable with new eating habits, you can hit those places no problem :-)
