Just found out I have a small ulcer.  part of my medication in Nexium.  It is a delayed release capsule.  I didn't think time released worked for us.  Also I didn't think our pouch produced acid so why take nexium.  Any help would be apprcieated.

I took a medicine called Carafate for my ulcer.  I too am on a medicine like Nexium, but it doesn't help once I already have an ulcer.  I hope you heal quickly!

I have an ulcer as well and my surgeon put me on Nexium & Carafate. When I take them properly it helps.

I was told the same thing about time release.  I have been taking prilosec since surgery and just the other day was prescribed Carafate for Ulcer and irritation in my pouch.

I was just released from the hospital today because of an ulcer. I had my gall bladder out also feel much better.  I am on nexium and carafate. I take the nexium 2 times a day to help with the asorbition. I know that I feel much better since I started taking it.

I take Nexium daily and while it is a time release it isn't a long term extended release so it will work some.  I pull the caps open and pour the stuff on to my tongue and take it that way. I also take carafate which I use to wash the nexium down.

Your puch does produce some acid just not as much as a whole stomach does.  Acid is what causes my ulcers as they aren't in the pouch but rather the intestine right below the stoma.

thanks for your help.  I am also on carafat, just having a hard time timing all the meds, food  and vitamins since they can't be taken together.  any suggestions would be appreciated.  The nexium is once a day and the carefat is 3times a day.
