hello folks, here i am 11 days post op and i feel like i have not even had surgery, i have had no pain but just very min. i was off all of my diabetic medicaine while i was still in the hopsital, i had sugar levels at 99 the day after my surgery, i had the shakes at that time, this morning my sugar level was 82 and i was not shakey like i was earlier on. i am still taking my blood pressure medicines.
i was up walking with in a few hours of surgery as i knew that from the boards, i know one day i made 7 laps...the nurses said i was the only one out of 4 that was up walking...
i have been getting in at least 60 oz of plain water, with just 2 popcicles a day, i got in 66 protein yesterday with just food, no protein drinks yesterday. i have a hard time with milk, but did before surgery, before surgery i only dran**** cold water and that is what i drink today and about the same about of water before and after surgery as far as amounts, i was told i drank too much water before surgery..my drs plan wants me at 100 with at least half of it being water...wwell i am close to that but i just dont drink other things bu****er...i just cant imagine 100 oz of water in one day, but i will keep trying to reach that goal. my drs plan is to have a min of 75 protein a day thats with 2 protein shakes, i am so close with just being 11 days out.

i came home from hopsital on purred food plan, i have been living on scrambled eggs with ham and cheese chives and seasonings, then i added some mexican cheese to warm it up and mix it up..i have been eating egg salad or tuna salad....i dont want to make something that is not already in that kind of purred stage as i dont want to ruin my food...next week i get to move to regular food, my dr has me on a specific food plan, with no more than 2 portein shakes a day, but so far i have not added them as i really have not drank any type of milk in like 27 years or more..i can handle cheese tho. i do have some of the nectar protein drinks, but the foam up so bad, and before surgery, i was adding them to some sugar free fresh squeezed lemonade that i was making then i took myself off my one coke a day...so i was making like cherry lemonade protin drinks, i tried one, but it was so sweet, that i just could not get it donw..but will keep trying..

trying to get in the vitamins which are nasty as they are chewables is the hardest thing, but next week i can move to just swallow pills for vitamins so that will make things easier....the only way i can get down the vitamins is to take a swallow of water and chew up the vitamin and then it goes down with the water...i have found that if i space them out and not try and take them all together, makes it much easier...every hour i am taking some kind of vitamin..i space out the calcium and iron 2 hours apart. my dr has be on the building block vitamins, they are huge wafers and they are NASTY!!! but the swallow of water makes them go down with a shudder and shake,
anyhow i just wanted to check in, i kinda feel bad checking in as i have not had any problems at all and feel bad for those that are having problems, but i also wanted some of the newbies and pre oppers to know that some do not have problems after surgery. so far i have not had any problems..i am even thinking about getting on my treadmill for a short walk....
i guess i could say my only problem is my incisions are major itching now..i feel like i could go hug a tree like a bear in the woods just to get the scratch...while in the hopsital, the "AIR" itching seemed to help, but not its past the "AIR"itching..
have a great day, and hope to hear from you soon, i am down 10 pounds since coming home on friday afternoon, so i am thrilled with that so far.

You are doing GREAT!!!! Good for you!!!!

My post op period was also very smooth, and I like to think it set the sails for the rest of my journey. I am impressed that you are already down 10 lbs. At 11 days out I think I was still swollen and puffy. I would not be concerned about the vitamins right now - my doc started the majority of vitamins after my 2 week check up.

In my opinion, the boards NEEED to hear the good news stories! Many of us have great experiences with our surgeries - we just don't post all that much!

Best wishes to you!
