ok, my surgeons nurse just told me i need to add 20-30 grams of fiber every day to my diet, it will help with this constipation...yes i have some benefiber, and now i got some mirlex from my PCM today, i  just have to get things moving..but first i have to get the hemmroids shrunk...they have gotten WAY out of control..and i do mean WAY out of control...so first shrink then get things moving...
ok beside benefiber....i was told no grains and breads and such for 6 months..so how do i get fiber with no grains? i am really thinking about adding some long cooking oatmeal, but i looked at the container and its only 5 grams....i have some kashi go lean ceral, it has 10 grams in a 1 cup serving...but i want to follow the rules...but need more fiber....they told me to hold off on the fiber pills i was taking since i am going to be pushing the benefiber and miralix for the next few days....
thanks guys for the help....i also got some smooth moove tea....they had chocolate flavor and i guess its just tea....how does this taste anyone? i just never drink tea so not sure what to expect on this one...and chocolate tea?? i thought about it..but got this regular one...is it sweet, tart? do i need to add some honey to it...i am not going to add this tea until things have gotten shrunk down ..
again thanks for the help

I take 2 or 3 "benefibre to-go" packets a day, usually in my crystal light. I have suffered from extreme constipation in the past and this seems to do the trick. Have you just started the benefibre? If I don't take it, I am constipated, so it's part of my daily routine now.

for my mid morning snack while at work, I eat a little packet of Metamucil Fiber Wafers.  They are yum.  You can eat 2 packs a day if you need it.  however, you need to have 8oz of fluid with them.  So I drink a large mug of hot green tea (no sugar or milk) with mine.

A box is only $4.50 at the Walmart.  I prefer Cinnamon.

Also, Benefiber is a tasteless and odorless powder like substance.  You can add it to virtually anything and it will dissolve.

i also eat 3 gummie fibers a day.

I remember asking my surgeon pre surgery about constapation and he said, we'll just be sure you get 25-30gm of fiber a day.  I'm sorry.  That is almost impossible with how we can actually eat.  I do benefiber daily, not the 2t that is a dose but more like 3-4T.  It keeps me moving but 2t only has 3gms of fiber.  So even getting as much as I do, it is barely enough.
If you eat your protein first, then there isn't much room for veggies and fruit which are high fiber.  I also do flax seed muffins and that helps but you really can't get enough in food if you are having a problem.
Be sure too that you are getting your fluid in.  64 oz is a minimum, especially if you are constipated.

I have the same problem.  I take Fiber Choice, which is 4 grams of fiber.  Also beans like chili or refried are an excellent source of fiber, as is oat bran and ground flax seed.  I have heard that chia seeds are really good, too.  I add ground flax seed in my meat loaf and you can add it to your protein shakes as well.

I have found crystal light with fiber and I also like the fiber one yogurt. I am only at stage two so those are the only things I've tried other than pureed bean soups. So far no constipation - before RNY it was a constant battle - so far so good!

I need fiber for a completely different reason, but I think I will go get myself some wafers and benefiber sticks. I hope they sell these at Costco or something. I need a DEAL!! LOL

Since you have such limited space for food and need to emphasize protein, you'll need to try to get the best "bang for the buck" with your small amount of fruits and veggies, so try to eat only high fiber ones.  Just do a Google search to get a complete list, but the ones I like are broccoli, beans, avocado, peas, sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, pears, raisins, and berries.
