hair and skin care?

I have dry skin normally.  Since surgery it's a whole new level of dry.  I'm taking an Omega 3 supplement on days I don't eat fish as my nutritionist said.  It's gotten a bit better in the last few days since I've started walking 2 miles and sweating my ass off.

And my hair is dry, maybe because my scalp is dry.

So what do you guys use to battle the dry skin and hair?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the fish oil supplements are not likely going to help very much right now.  Fish oil supplements are OIL, which is FAT, which you are malabsorbing 30-50% of right now...

Getting even more healthy fats in your diet, and then moisturizing lotion and conditioner until you stop malabsorbing the fats...

Saturated fats and transfats are the bad fats. The unsaturated fats (mono- and poly-) are the healthy fats.

An oversimplified version:
Fats from fish, nuts, seeds, avocado, and corn oil are good fats.
Fats from butter, cheese,  meats, and lard are bad fats.

A great all over body moisturizer is CeraVe cream. After a shower, dry lightly and apply to skin while it is still damp. The cream is not greasy and absorbs in...

Do this daily and you will see a difference.

The cream is available at Walmart, CVS, or wherever. No fragrance either.

I started using Bio Oil twice a day on my laparoscopic scars in the beginning, and now I use it everywhere!  It is awesome and I could tell a difference immediately.  It absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn't leave me feeling greasy.  I use it after my bath.  It's a little pricey (about $20 for a 4.5 oz bottle), but it's worth it and a little bit goes a long way.  I started using it because I noticed that my hands and arms especially looked 15 years older than normal as quickly as 3 weeks post op.  You can find it at WalGreens or WalMart.  Hope this was helpful!
