Three weeks out, and another lesson learned...

Last night I made a piece of fish for dinner.  After taking my first bite, I realized it was very dense and my instincts told me this could end bad.  So, being a compulsive overeater, I ignored my instincts and gave it a shot anyway.  A few bites in I could tell it was getting "stuck".  It was only going so far and it was painful.  I panicked a little and decided to try and wa**** down with some hot tea.  Well, that made it worse and for the next 10 minutes or so I was doubled over with a very painful "spasming" where the stuck fish was.  After some Lamaze breathing and coughing I had a few very deep belches and felt a lot better.  How humbling though.  I really did it to myself.  Like I said, lesson learned.  When it feels like it's going to get stuck, STOP!!!!!

I'm so glad it turned out alright for you and got unstuck. It could have been worse. I am 2 weeks out and today was my first day of soft food. I put a heaping tablespoon of cottage cheese in a bowl and had breakfast with my hubby. I only got maybe a tablespoon in and I stopped. I wasn't sick and I can't tell if I'm full...just suddenly didn't want anymore.  Here I thought it would be great I could eat again. The cottage cheese tasted good  but just  a let down some how. I've lost I'm 14 days out and about 24lbs down. Last couple days I have been stalled. I think its just my body readjusting.

But yea can add some things to my diet hopefully besides protein shakes and liquids.

In the early weeks as you return to eating, the most important thing you can do is make sure the food is "wet"---use soup or some type of sauce (make sure no sugar!!) and CHEW, CHEW, CHEW.

Small bites, lots of chewing and you'll be fine.

I find salmon a very dense protein and can rarely eat more than 3 or 4 oz. Shrimp?? I can do about 6 or 8 of those!

We're all different!
