Liquid Suggestions

So far I'm almost 8 months out. Drinking water will never be easy. I've been relying on warm liquids such as sugar-free hot chocolate, coffee w/sugar-free syrups, and sugar-free apple cider to get my 8c. minimum in.

I just got diagnosed with inflammed bladder (interstitial cystitis). The new diet says I have to cut out coffee, chocolate, caffeine, artificial sweeteners and citric acid. It has gotten so much better since I cut out decaf coffee and the cider. I will not give up my cocoa.

Suggestions for cool liquids would be great! I've found Sobee Zero which uses Stevia. I cannot do Crystal Light because it all has citric acid in it. It also thickens my mucus so much that it is difficult to breath. Ideas about flavored water or flavoring that doesn't contain citric acid or the above triggers?

Much appreciated!!
Heidi

1.  check into Mio.  Not sure if it has citric acid but you could check the ingredients out.  Here is the link to thier webpage.  http://www.kraftbrands.com/mio/index.html click around and you should be able to find the nutrition info and ingrediants list.

2.  You could make your own flavored syrups, although they would not be sugar free.  DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE A DUMPER!!!!  Disolve a 5 pound bag of sugar in a gallon of water, to make a simple flavorless syrup.  To make it flavored, boil your favorite fruit in the water for at least 10 minutes (taste the water to see if it has enough fruity flavor, if not boil longer) before adding the sugar.  IF you area dumper, just boil the fruit in the water.  Also the longer the fruit stays in the water the stronger the flavor will be.  So leave the fruit peices in the pitcher

3.  Make herbal sun tea.  Most herbal teas are naturally caffeine free.

You can also get Davinci brand sugar free syrups. I found the best price for them at their own website.

I have a hard time with drinking my water as well. I also have the same issues with drinking things that thickens my mucus, it is a pain in the you know what. I have found drinks that really satisfy me so I love to drink decaf herbal teas, flavored Aquafina, and Propel Zero. I also drink Swiss Miss Diet which is more like drinking cocoa water, LOL but it is good and I have no problems with it.
