Why is steak bad?

I have been eating steak since it showed up on my plan, around 4-6 weeks.  I have never had a problem with it "sitting in my stomach for days"  I also don't eat high fat steak.  Not all are.  Choose carefully, wait until it is on your plan, take small bites and chew well.  Does that sound familiar??????

I love steak!  I usually have ribeye or filet mignon because I find them easier to digest because they're more moist.  It's true it takes longer to digest red meat however, it doesn't sit in your stomach for days.  It sits in your small intestine longer than other foods because that is where protein digestion takes place so, it takes it 1-2 days longer to fully digest.  The proteins I LOVE now are eggs...can't get enough and I can eat them cooked any way.  I love shrimp and other seafoods but, can't tolerate tuna.  Chicken is okay if I'm sure it's moist so, I choose not to order it in restaurants.  Turkey I can handle sometimes....just depends on the day!  Follow your surgeon's recommendations for sure!

I started eating steak around 7 weeks out...allowed by my surgeon's plan and not a problem for me if well chewed.  So if ok with your surgeon, ENJOY!

darn it, now I want a steak for dinner and of course have none.

my surgeons plan doesnt allow red meat till after 6 months...BUT individually, I can't tolerate more than 2 to 3 cubes of beef, pork or chicken for that matter... pouch seems to LOVE ONLY seafood.. Ive read also that it's rather dense and sits in the tummy for a while longer..
Babygirl got her surgery March 3rd...     She's from 339 to 200 as of 6/14/2012.. SOO proud of my bigbabygirl

my surgeon's plan says no beef or por****il 6 months post op....they say that pork and beef are more dense than poultry or fish and would be harder to digest.

but....i'm not a professional....i just followed the rules and had no problems!

happy thoughts and warm wishes being sent your way!
Blessings,  J
