I am trying to stock up on some things before my surgery and would love some input on types of shakes that are decent to eat and places to buy shakes and what I should avoid with shakes.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you use the Search box at the top of the page and type in "Protein shake" you will get a ton of references to read from previous posters. Good luck on your surgery. Rose

Just get samples until you know what you like (and your taste may change after surgery) because the tubs are too expensive to buy a whole tub and HATE it!  www.vitalady.com has lots of samples. www.unjury.com also has samples for sale (they have a chicken soup protein powder that is a very nice change from the sweet drinks).  Be sure to try the nectar protein powders (they are like a thicker Crystal Light... and a nice change from the milkshake types).

I bought a variety of samples from Vitalady to try after surgery and a shaker. It was nice to just open the bag, add it to water, and shake/shake/shake. I now know the flavors and brands that I like. Probably the most convenient is the Premier chocolate that comes already made from Costco. It is very creamy and can be used at room temperature or cold. It is nice to grab and go.

I imagine the special K has too much sugar.  You will have a hard time getting the protein you need from food.  At 8 months out, I still have 2 shakes a day to get me over 100g.
Most places, vitaladies, unjury, nectar, have a small charge plus s & h.  the advantage is getting to try many without buying a whole tub.

I like the Necter fruity drinks...similar to juice in flavor but 23 g of protein...If I want a milkshake type I use Inspire Peanut Butter Cookie...4 ounces of water, 1 scoop and you get 25 g of protein, plus you are pretty full.
