I always look at the angles..... the angle from perpendicular. Ideally you want the angle of your thighs, for example, to be closer to perpendicular with the floor. (you're an engineer, right, you get what I'm saying).... so if you look at the angle of your thighs (outer edges) in the two photos, the angle in the below picture is much closer to perpendicular than the upper photo.
There's also the upper arms and the way it rests against the body....as you get more slender, you'll see that your arms come closer to being close to absolutely perpendicular to the floor, because they eventually won't be resting against anything as they "fall" from your shoulders.... leaving you with little outward angle at all.
