I don't want be a Drama Queen - but!
Honestly, my surgery was very uneventful. Everything went very smoothly, but from the moment I opened my eyes in recovery I've had this pain in my chest (basically located right below my bra line). I attributed it to gas pain. As my hospital stay progressed and I walked the pain lessoned, but never fully went away. Some days it is better than others, but today it has felt like a sharp knife. I had my post-op appointment yesterday with and mentioned it to the doctor, and he basically said everything is still healing. I can feel food and liquid go all the way the pike. When it gets to that spot it is really painful. It doesn't prevent me from eating or drinking, but dang it hurts. If I get a gas bubble, I have to grip something until it passes. Did anyone else experience pain in that area? I don't think its a stricture because I can eat and drink. I'm going to give it a few more days and if it doesn't get better I will call the office on Tuesday, but I am curious if that is a common area to experience pain post-op.
The location you describe is right where your pouch is. It's at the end of the esophagus, so it lands right about the middle of your chest - between the boobs. Definitely keep a close eye on the pain and if you get to the point where you no longer think it's gas bubbles, contact the surgeon for advice. Sometimes the gas pains can be very very bad for people, so it might just be that.

i had my surgery on May 17th. I get those feelings only when I eat. I take it that it means I had enough to eat so I stop eating and within a half hour I feel fine. Bus i do pas alot of gas and now I am able to have bowelmovements without any problems. Good luck and keep your chin up. As long as you are following the steps you will be fine.
