No too sure what is causing all this gas

So, last Sunday I woke up with a wicked head ache and throughout the day started to feel very nauseous.  I think I had a touch of a bug because I felt that way most of last week.  Except for a little diarrhea the worse thing i had to deal with was GAS.  Every day for the last week, right around 4:oo pm my stomach would start rolling with gas and I quarantined myself to my bedroom because it was FOUL.  So right around 8:00-9:00 it would just stop.  Tuesday was my anniversary and my poor husband had to sleep in the guest room.

This is how my days were going as far as eating.  Remember, I was feeling poorly.

B: Protein Shake
L: Greek yogurt
S: 1/2 cup cottage cheese
D: Veggie burger with cheese, something like that.

I started taking some lactaid about Wednesday to see if the dairy was doing me in and it has had no effect whatsoever.   Gas X has never worked for me, but I have been chewing on those, also.  Yesterday I tried just plain water, no CL, to see if all the artificial sweetner had anything to do with it, and that didn't help either.

I do take philips probiotic chrystals in the morning.

Gas gurus!!!  Help!!!  I can't keep hiding out in my room, and my husband is NOT going to want to sleep in the guest room for much longer.

My first thought was lactose intolerant.  Keep trying the lactaid for a few more days.

at 8 yrs out I still have to watch:  milk,, bread, sweets.  I will still dump on these things (even carbs like chips or potato) and then the gas comes.  Probiotics will help but I really have to control my diet or it gets BAD.

not saying this is your problem you might want to talk to your doctor, but my doctor told me some people develop this type of situation after the bypass... he said some will be gassy all the time, some will always be consipated, and some will have diaherria.. you might want to talk to your doctor to get you on something that will help you.. i know mine suggested taking Lactobacillus which is a Probiotic it help keep your system cleaned out he said.. just what i was told, hope it helps some :)

wow. How many meds including the vitamins do some take daily? I have noticed that after surgery, you need meds for this and meds for that. Is'nt that costly if using on a daily basis??

Vitamins, protein supplements and things like probiotics can add up after surgery.  You have to factor in those costs as they can be necessary for a while.  I also was spending a lot on things for constipation but now my doctor prescribes Miralax for me which was costing me quite a bit.
I probably spend about $75 to $100 a month on that kind of stuff, including my protein powder and vitamins.  I am also spending a lot less then that on things like fast food, eating out and junk food, so it's about even.

Are you having anything with sugar alcohol in it?  Things like chewable vitamins may have it, as does the sugar free cups of Jello and pudding.  It is hidden in a lot of things so check that out.  That can cause really bad gas.  If you have anything sugar free check the ingredients.

I had a few days last week where I was REALLY gassy too.  I could not figure out what was going on... then, I finally narrowed it down to the fact that I was eating more carbs than normal.  I think what was happening was that some of the carbs were passing through undigested due to the bypass and then they were moving to a place in my intestines where they were fermenting and turning to gas.  Probiotics seem to help me not be as gassy and seem to make things less odoriferous when gas is present.  (Sorry if that's TMI!)
