HELP ME... 5 months po and no lost
You've made fabulous progress and are a FAST loser.
Most people lose hair from three months to six months out, so you're almost to the point where it should ease up
Months 3 through 12 I always had two weeks out of every four where I was either NOT losing or in fact GAINING
I only lost weight during two weeks out of every four.
Don't be scared, just continue to follow the plan, make sure you're getting your liquids in!

I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!
I am 5 months out and have just been through a 6 week stall where I lost NOTHING. In the past 2 weeks I lost 3 lb. I am a SLOW loser and am ok with that, but the stalls ( I've had 3 long ones) are scary. I expect to be right at 60 lbs. lost by my 6- week follow up appointment. My bigger worry right now is the amount of food I can consume and the fact that I can eat EVERYTHING. I am SCARED!
Just because you can eat anything doesn't mean you have to. Make good choices and measure your food. You goal isn't to be stuffed but to be satisfied. At 6 months out I was eating 1/2 cup food or 3 oz meat. I felt like I could probably eat a lot more but I always waited to see if I still needed to eat more and I always felt satisfied after I ate and didn't need to eat more.
The surgery will help you be able to eat less and be satisfied. If you are eating refined carbs that will make you crave more. I used the surgery as an opportunity to detox from the carbs and I have found that if I don't eat them I don't miss them. The surgery has given me a tool to eat better but it is up to me to make as good of choices as I am able to.
I always heard that a good rule of thumb is about 50% of excess weight lost by 6 months out so you are a little ahead of the game.

WLS 10/28/2002 Revision 7/23/2010
High Weight (2002) 240 Revision Weight (2010) 220 Current Weight 115.
I'm two weeks, almost three weeks, post op and have lost 15 pounds (if I weight nekked first thing in the morning before the shower, later in the day it's a few pounds more and the doctor explained why). I was pretty happy with that until my mom, who had the same surgery four years ago, said she expected me to be down about 25 pounds...and said I am obviously doing something wrong.
So I'm curious too, where should I be at this point? I'm still sore, so it's not like I've dove into the gym or anything like that.
Thanks in advance.

Hey there.
I stalled at 5 months after my RNY. I am almost at 2 years now and have started to gain. This is not very inspirational for you, I'm sure. However, please know it doesn't have to be for you. Don't give up and demand solutions and help from your medical team. I didn't, and ended up feeling a failure. I lost 70 andstill have 100 to lose.
Now about the hair. It will stop falling out. Mine did, then it started up again, and then it stopped. Now it is just normal loss, not extraordinary. Remember it is a brave thing you did and keep at it and don't give up.
