You can go without milk or switch to Soy Milk, Almond Milk or Lactaid and see if it helps.  Keep in mind it will take a little while for you to see a difference.  I have had to switch to Vanilla Soy because I can't handle regular milk anymore.  Lactaid is an option too although I have no idea how it tastes.

Lactaid tastes fine.  If you eliminate the milk, you should feel the difference in a day or two.  Bu****ch your carbs!  I had a really bad week with gas, was watching my Lactose and still gassy.  I have since been eating semi-"atkins" like, low, low, carb, and my gas is all but cured!  Everyone farts, but the painful rolling gas with obscene smell is gone.

Lactaid tastes exactly like regular milk! My daughter is lactose intolerant and as a result, that is the only milk in our house. It's just fine to use in shakes, smoothies, and cooking. I don't think switching permamently to Lactose free milk like Lactaid will hurt your health at all. It's more expensive, but good nonetheless.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I was highly "lactose intolerant" for almost 20 years before surgery. Hearing that lactose intolerance usually increases after surgery I was quite concerned about getting in protein etc... . I was happily surprised after surgery to find that I was able to tolerate dairy with no diarrea whatsoever. I eat Greek Yogurt for breakfast every morning, a dairy protien shake for snack, and cottage cheese every night. The one time that I have had diarea in almost 4 months was actually when I had a large amount of Lactaid (go figure). I have plenty of gas but as it is not painful I don't really mind at all (I'm a guy). My belief is that it was not the lactose alone that was making me sick all those years but a combination of lactose, gluten, sugar and a all the fried garbage I was eating for 20 years. So check out the lactose but it could be some other stuff as well.
