Updates (Please Share Your Ulcer Stories)

Hello, everyone...it has been awhile!  I read the forum, everyday, but I have been keeping quiet.  I have been having "pouch" problems, which have only gotten worse.  I have "exploratory" surgery, tomorrow, and my surgeon believes that I have an ulcer, hernia, or both!  He felt, what he believes is a hernia, on my left side...I have thought that I had one there, for a while, now!  TMI (Please don't read the next sentence(s), if you have a weak stomach):  It has gotten, to where, today, I have to literally be right by a toilet, in order to make it, in time!  I had (2) accidents (in my pants), before going to the surgeon's office, today!  The pain is bad...it feels like "period" cramps, that burn, really bad!  Skim milk seems to soothe it, for a little while, so I have been drinking (3) glasses, a day!  I have been stressed and depressed, since the surgery, due to thinking that I wasn't doing good enough...crazy, huh?!  Anyway, I am sorry, for being quiet, and  I appreciate all of your feedback!  You are all great!

Bless your heart!  Did he do an endoscopy to see if you had an ulcer?  I've been dealing with ulcers the past month or so.  I wasn't diagnosed officially until I had an endoscopy.  I go back for another one in about 5 weeks to see if it is healing. 

It sounds like something is going on with your bowels, be it a hernia or something else.  I really hope they find what's going on with you tomorrow.  I've had accidents like that before but mine were always caused by a stomach bug of some sort and that was preop.

Thank you, so much, for the response and well wishes!  I think he is going to send me for and "egd", after the procedure...it was like a blur, today, because there was so much going on!  I am praying, that they will find out, what is wrong because I am becoming scared to eat!  I will keep you, in my thoughts and prayers...thanks, again!

I have a big ulcer that hurts like heck, but the cramping is probably not an ulcer. I get the "period" type cramps a lot too. I'm on Bentyl to slow down my bowels. That helps a LOT and takes away that cramping. I still have diarhea (sorry TMI), but at least I can make it to the bathroom in time now. I may not have a ton of time, but it's more than I had. Alternagel and Carafate usually help soothe my ulcer, but I'm on pain meds for mine since it's not healing well.

Thank you, so much, Carla...your comment was very informative!  I am so glad to hear, that you are doing a little better...After these tests, I guess I will be off to the gastroenterologist!  Also, thank you so much, for the warm wishes!  I will be sure to keep you, and everyone updated, as soon as I can!
