Does anybody use peanut butter as protein? How far out?

I was probably 7 months before I ate it again.  Now I eat it only when I need a calorie boost.  THe amount of protein for the calories really isn't the greatest.  And I measure exactly how much I eat.  PB2 may be a better option.

Not often, but yes.  Not necessarily when I need a calorie boost, just when I get a craving.  I don't remember how far out I was the 1st time I tried it.....

As with the others, I am careful with peanut butter. It is very high calorie, most of which comes from fat.  Watch the sugar content too - some brands hide sugars in the PB.

I believe I first tried PB at about 6 months out.

For a while I would indulge too much. I finally found a brand that hubby would eat that I actually did NOT like! That one was safe in the house! (Keep me away from the extra crunch Skippy though!)

You might also want to try Better'n Peanut Butter - much better nutrition label and available in many large grocery health food sections.

I just ate some on my break at work, I'm 2 months post-op. I scoop a tablespoon of creamy peanut butter in a spoon and lick it like an ice cream cone !!!

That's going to be me too! I don't eat nuts of any kind, and peanut butter is the only nutty thing I'll eat!

My surgeon allows nuts and nut products after six month.  I has a tbsp noe and then after two months on days when I coud not eat more than a few hundred calories.  Its high fat and calorie dense.  There is not alot of protein for the calories and you won't get very full from it either.  Still, its a help when you are under eating and need calories wothout that over full feeling.  With protein powder it was a help in getting enough nutrition.
