Dehydration

Anyone successfully re-hydrate at home? I was in urgent care Friday and they said I was dehydrated and they pushed a liter of saline and sent me home.

I felt Ok yesterday but this am I was up at 5 feeling dizzy again. I have taken in 80oz of powerade zero today and still feel slightly dizzy. I have no other symptoms, my vitals are good and so is my sugar. I'm wondering if the dizziness is left over from the dehydration or should I call my pcp because the dizziness is related to something else?

I called out of work Friday am I'm sure my boss will be pissed if I call out again tomorrow. I don't know what to do.

Thanks for letting me whine. I appreciate it.

Fresh out from surgery I would suggest you call a doc or go to ER. If your urine is dark or strong smelling you could still be dehydrated, also dry skin / lips.
Still, I would call.

Keep drinking one bag may not be enough. Have you done the hand test? Pull the skin on the top of your hand and see if it retracts fast or slow. The slower it goes back down the more liquids you need to push.

Since you are newly post-op also call your surgeon.

The skin went back down almost immediately.

I have but it takes about 1.5 days.  Mine was caused by not hydrating properly while workingout.  Drinking low cal G2 for the day and putting down as much fluids as possible did the trick.  I will forgo eating to make sure I am hydrated.  KNow the simple tests the pinch test and also the pee tests.  How often are you peeing, and it may sound gross but what color is your pee, dark yellow to gold means you are heading towards dehydration yellow to clear is a good thing.

Sorry to hear you got hit by this as it is a royal pain. Keep your spirits up and keep pushing forard.

I am peeing a lot since last night. The color is pretty light.

Here are some things that are high in potassium; ornages, tomatoes, bananas, yogurt, broccoli, spinach.  If you can handle it you may want to try some Wendy's Chili...The good for what ails ya.  Test it first to see if your pouch agrees with it or not.  A simple thing to have is frozen cooked spinach (microwaved), and add some salt to it...Sodium and potassium.
