6 days post-op and my energy is better than before surgery?

Before surgery I was always tired, like super tired. Since day one of my surgery I have had great energy. I am not even drinking caffeine. Has this happened to anyone else or do you think it's just b/c I am excited? Dh is home and taking care of our 3 kids, doing all of the cooking and cleaning. IDK, I just expected to feel like crud for a little bit after surgery. Is it coming??

Sure! Normal. Some folks recover fast... and you are not bogged down with bad foods. Your body is likely in ketosis, happily burning away your fat stores. I hit that state on day 3 of my liquid diet pre-op.... after surgery I had back cramps for about a week so i didn't feel great, but as soon as I could sleep on my side, my energy boosted bigtime.

You are not alone. I am only 1 week post op and I feel like I have more energy too. I even went back to work on Tuesday and tonight I took my dog for a walk around my apartment building when before surgery I could barely get myself to walk to the end of my sidewalk to to take my garbage to the dumpster. I am not drinking any caffeine either. Wild huh? But I'm loving it! I have also noticed that I am sleeping much better after surgery. For the last 2 nights I slept all night long when before surgery I was up and down all night.

Pre-op: if I wasn't working or eating, I was sleeping...post-op: I don't know what to do with myself! lol I have more energy than ever! Even when I first went back to work 2 weeks after, I felt like a new person :)

OMG I feel the same way!  My surgery was on the 21st and I feel amazing!  Tonight I went for a 50 minute walk and could have gone a bit longer even.  It's so nice not to have that guilty feeling of eating something bad and then feeling like I have to punish myself for being "bad."  Now I just follow my plan and it's working!   Life seems so much more simple now without all the mind games and having the extra energy.

It's great that all of you feel so much energy. I'm having my surgery a week from tomorrow. My surgeon said that even if you do have that energy your body still needs to heal which requires rest and lots of it. It may come back and bite you in the butt. Just be careful and don't overdo it is all I'm saying. iIm taking 4 weeks off because I don't want to go back to work eating puree. I'd rather be on solids and be well rested and healing properly.

I do love hearing all the positives. It makes me less scared of how I'll feel after.

Take care!

I went through a HUGE burst of energy after my first week. Then at about week 6 I just got exhuasted.. I just wanted to sleep.  That lasted for about 3 weeks. Since then I have an awesome amount of energy and I feel great! I think everything just needed to settle.
