OMG ITS WORKING!!!!!

I seriously convinced myself that I was the only one who could possibly have RNY and not lose weight.  But I went into surgery Monday morning and weighed 235.2. I snuck myself onto a scale left in the hospital hallway the evening of surgery (I know I have a scale problem) and weighed 248.7. I knew it was going to be up and I just wanted to know how up it was so I could know how much weight I needed to lose to get back to where I left off. Tonight I got on my home scale (which obviously you weigh more at night) and I weighed 234! Holy cow I am really losing! I can not believe it!!!! This is real! LOL

YAY!!! Losing is always a good thing!  It IS real!  I can hardly wait for my surgery in two weeks.

I just had to smile and comment to your post because I keep saying the same thing. I keep telling people that my stomach/surgery is working. I can't wait to really exercise to help it move along.

ME tooooo!!!! I so can't wait to start! I have a treadmill at home and a puppy ready for some hikes but Im also excited to try some new things. I know I can't keep doing what I've always done because what I have always done hasn't worked (duh). I've always treated it like a chore and now I want to learn new sports and activities that I might actually perceive as fun instead of work. I am going to join a water aerobics class, take a yoga class, buy a bicycle, and come winter I am buying snow shoes. I am just going to keep trying stuff until I find enough things that I enjoy doing! I was to keep my body as tone as possible as I lose to hopefully keep from too much loose skin...although I know some is inevitable.

Way to go!!!  I had my surgery 8 days ago, and I haven't stepped on the scale yet.  I have the same fear you do...that I will be the only person to have the RNY that not only doesn't lose weight, but that gains weight.  Argh.

My post-op appointment is on Wednesday.  I am sure they will weigh me then.  If I haven't lost anything, I know I will just cry.

Keep up the good work!!

Well I am probably the only person to have had lap band surgery and not lost 1 lb....so depressing...so now I am on my way to having revision to RNY. I have the surgery in October and i am thinking that I will be the only one not to lose with the RNY and will then have dumping syndrome and mal nutrition on top of it....talk about a negative attitude...that is why I came on here...FOR HOPE...HOPE HOPE

You are definitly not alone! The same thing happened to me. Have the RNY you will be so happy! I can't believe I didn't have it in the first place!!! I would be thin by now if I did!

After my surgery I remember wanting to post the same thing. It's a great feeling when you realize it REALLY is working. Enjoy, we're on our way!

I felt/feel the same way. When I stepped in the scale at my first post op appointment I had lost like 16 pounds and the fisrt thing i said to the nurse was "damn this thing really works huh?" Lol

LOL! I agree! I stayed off the scale my first week, as I was afraid to see the surgery weight gain! I went to the doctor yesterday for my 1 wk post op visit, and was down 12 lbs!!

I can't imagine!!!!

Enjoy the ride!!
