I'm Back Home!!!
Hi Everyone,
I am back home now. I had my surgery on 6/29 at 7:30 a.m. and was releasted Friday 7/1. I must say, I cannot be happier. I have not had very much pain and have yet to take any pain meds at home. My incensions were beautifully done, no drainage pump or anything! I am trying very hard to get in as much protein as possible and liquids so that I don't become dehydrated. (TMI)The only funky thing I am not happy about is on Friday when I left the hospital, my monthly started(bummer)! I also haven't really lost any weight accept the 48lbs. prior to surgery which I am proud of even doing that much. Not sure why I haven't lost any, but I'm sure time will tell.
Please keep me in your prayers, and please keep me up to date with what is happening with you all.
Thanks,
Trina

Hey Trina! Welcome Home! SO glad things went well! I have to say my experience was really great too! I am just two days ahead of you! Focus on the fluids first but definitely the protein is important as we all know!
fyi....You should be THRILLED that you haven't gained and the only thing you are dealing with is you haven't lost yet. I am in my final year of nursing school and have taken care of RNY patients prior to having RNY myself and some people GAIN even 30 pounds from surgery. They pump you so full of fluids and your body retains it. You shed it quite quickly though. So the fact that you just haven't lost yet means you are doing Awesome!!!!!
I think tonight I might finally be able to sleep in my own bed with my husband instead of in the recliner...that has been a little depressing! Haven't slept next to the hubby in over a week :(
I haven't had to take my pain meds at all since being home! I actually drove my car to the store today and came home and made some salads for a bbq tomorrow. Its kind of funny how I can't eat but I seem to be very concerned about making sure everyone else is fed.
Thats about all I have about whats happening with me, but keep me posted on your progress!

Trina,
I'm so glad your surgery went well! Congrats, this is the start of your new life! Don't worry about not losing weight yet, I was up a pound when I came home after a few days. You were pumped full of liquids, and that takes a week or two to get out. I would wait a week or two before weighing yourself.
Anyway, enjoy your recovery! Congrats!

Welcome home!!! (((hugs))) See all that worrying for nothing. LOL
I am 5 days ahead of you and I had my one week follow up. On surgery day I was 256, when I weighed in at the dr.s office one week later I weighed 253. I know it's easier said than done but try not to get caught up in the numbers right now. Our bodies just went through major surgery and there are many factors as to why the scale isn't moving. As long as you are following your surgeons guidelines, you will lose weight. I could be all mad and sad that I ONLY lost 3 lbs, but I am not dwelling on it, b/c I know I am doing everything right.
Welcome to the bench! It's a wonderful place to be.
