I arrive at the hospital tomorrow at 1100. I'm doing laundry and cleaning the house even though I worked 13 hours today. I cried all the way home from work like a giant release of anxiety and fear. Now, I'm still scared but hoping my surgery will go smoothly and without any adverse events. I hope I'll recover quickly. I'm afraid to hope or expect that I will really lose all this weight...since I've been overweight since high school. It's uncharted territory to actually lose weight AND keep it off. So, I'm going to show up and do whatever they tell me to do. I'm going to follow all the directions and hope it all works out. I'm not a person of faith but I'll take any good thoughts or prayers to help me get through the next few days. I appreciate this forum and the experience of everyone who has already taken this road. Fingers crossed...tomorrow, I will begin the "journey."

Yes, it is an awesome journey. Enjoy the ride, you are not alone. I have been heavy since before I started school. So, yes, I too had to get my brain to think about weight loss and not having it come back. I am working with a book called

The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person

It has some exercises to work through and helps gear your mind up for the work ahead. I also work with a one to one therapist. Since I know I didn't get heavy in one day, I know I won't lose it in one day. Be gentle with yourself. After surgery you will wake up to a new you. Be excited, it's a big step.

My surgery is Aug 1st and I am getting anxious but yet excited -- it's going to be
