I have a constant headache and the worst pressure/pain in my abdomen. Any idea how long this takes to resolve? I'm having the "why did I do this" syndrome and I could use a pep talk...

Hi Kim! I was in the hospital for 5 days and I had a bad headache everyday I was there. I don't know why. They eventually just went away on their own. The pressure in your abdomen is probably gas. The best thing for that is to walk. It helps somehow to pass the gas. Good luck and things will get better.

I've been 7 days since my surguery and what really helped me with the gas pains was pepperment tea.  Good luck I hope you feel better

Yeah, you are in what I like to call "hell week".  You have a nice case of byer-remorse and many people get it in the first week.  It will pass.
Not sure why you are getting a headache, maybe your body adjusting to low calories or maybe the medicine from surgery, but the pain in your abdomen is gas.  Everyone complains of that after surgery.  While I was in the hospital it near drove me nuts!  I was up and moving as much as possible but it took what felt like forever to go away, in reality it was gone by day 4, so you have 2 more days to go.  They fill you up with air during the surgery, that adds to the pressure.  You may have soreness in your shoulders, that is from the added air too.

Hang in there, it gets better.....really it does.

I'm 8 days post-op. The pressure is most likely gas in your GI tract and ouside your GI tract in your abdomen where they filled you with gas for your surgery. There is also swollen tissues in there adding to the problem. Ask the nurse if they have anything to give you for gas (usually Simethecone) and walk, walk, walk. About tomorrow you'll start to pass gas. You may be belching already. This is normal and it will be a little better tomorrow and each day after.

The headache maybe from caffeine withdrawal. You can ask the nurse for something for headache as well.

headache could be from anesthesia also.  Good luck, and don't worry, this will all pass quickly (no pun intended) and you will feel better each day.

You are not alone. I went thru the same things that you are going thru. my best advice is walk walk walk. It will make the gas that they filled your belly with.

Buyers remorse is normal. It will go away. Just sip water and think how wonderful you will feel once you loose some weight.

All these feelings you are having are completely normal.  I am 5 days out and remember on day 2 I was laying in the hospital bed thinking "boy all this pain better be worth it in the end"  I was crying and just kept asking myself why I'd done this to myself.  The gas pains are very normal but more than likely tomorrow or the day after you will start passing the gas and you can not imagine how good of a feeling that is!!  The others are right walk, walk, walk, move around as much as you can (although I know it's so hard).  This will help everything heal quicker!  Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I'm exactly a week out and I was feeing exactly the same way you were feeling! It's especially hard being in a family that has no inhibitions when it comes to eating. Just keep telling yourself it will be worth it and that this phase will pass soon. Its a small part of your life in the grand scheme of things. The pain for me is much better then it was when I was in the hospial. Gas builds up and then passes pretty quickly and less frequently and the only other pain I have is in my bellybutton area. Just hang in there!
