I'm still here...

I haven't been very active on the boards lately, but I'm still here. Still reading posts even though I may not have much to say, and still thinking about all of you...

I've been extremely stressed lately and very busy. Just in the past two days, I've had to repair my car AND the evaporative cooler in my house!

I haven't had much time for exercise and even though I'm still watching my calories, I feel like I'm sabotaging all my hard work over the past 2 months. I gained 1.6 lbs between the 7th and the 14th of this month... Hoping it was due to my TOM, but I won't know how I'm really doing til Thursday when I will weigh in again.

I go in for what will hopefully be my FINAL sleep apnea study tonight. This time it's just to find the right titration (pressure) for the CPAP machine since they didn't have enough time to get it right the first time. Found out from the pulmonologist that my apnea is only a mild case... I was hoping to not have to be on the machine, but no such luck. I have to be on the CPAP for 4 weeks before they will let me have surgery. My next follow up with the pulmonologist is the 28th and that is likely when I will be started on the machine at home.

I have my pre-op consult with my NUT on Wednesday and that will be the last thing on my pre-op checklist!

I will complete the 3-month physician supervised diet req'd by my insurance on August 4th, will be able to pay off my previous hospital balance on the 19th or 20th of August and should reach the 4 week mark with the CPAP on August 25th assuming I start treatment on the 28th of July.

Still looking like end of August/beginning of September for my surgery date. I'm getting really impatient now.

Anyway, that is my update. Hope all of you are well.

Hi!  I am Abby, I am going in for my first sleep apnea test tomorrow night.  Not very excited about it at all.  I did not know that they want you to be on the CPAP for 4 weeks prior to doing surgery that seems like so long to wait.

Not all doctors require that you be on the CPAP for 4 weeks. I was on mine for a week before my surgery.

Hey, I just want to say that exercise will make a HUGE difference in your weight loss!  I wasn't doing much weight loss after my surgery and I was seeing poor weight loss (~5 pounds in 4 weeks).  Last week I decided to kick up my exercise routine and I've dropped 7 pounds in a week.

Yes, Gabby, not all surgeons require that long on the CPAP. My surgeon does, though.

I wish you the best with your sleep study! I'm warning you now that it is NOT going to be the best night of sleep you've had. My first experience was horrible, so imagine my excitement about going in again tonight! LOL

For me, my CPAP use was determined by the Pulmonologist AND he required use for 2 months before he would sign off on surgery. It really sucked! If it wasn't for that 2 month requirement I would probably have had my surgery in Feb. or March... Oh well. Good luck and hope to see you on the losing side soon.
