WORRIED about pre-op labs
I got my pre-op labs and UA done Monday and I called for the results today and they told me that my white blood cells are high. What the heck does this mean? They also said that I have "mini bacteria" in my urine. What do either of these mean? I'm a little worried that I have an infection and that might not be good before surgery.
Anyone else have these kind of problems?

The first time I had labs done I had an infection too, Dr just gave meds to clear up. (this was 1 month pre-op). I think overall I had about 3 sets of labs done, my PCP did them, my cardiologist did them and my surgeons hospital did them all in the month prior to surgery.
I would think as long as your other tests (pulmanory, ekg, etc etc) are good then you'd be ok. It's really just up to the surgeon to determine if everything combined makes you a "good" risk level. Worse case scenario they may postpone the surgery a few weeks?
