Down to the nitty gritty...
Had my appointment with the NUT today. Other than getting started and being on CPAP for 4 weeks, that was the very LAST thing on my pre-op checklist!!!
The CPAP thing is taking forever and it's very frustrating. I have my second sleep study on Monday then another follow-up with the pulmonologist on August 9th.
My 3-month physician supervised diet program will be completed August 4th and my surgeon's office says they can submit for insurance approval as soon as they get the dictations from the dietician I've been working with!
Also found out today that I lost 4 lbs last week! I was discouraged by a 1.6lb gain the previous week, so the big loss felt so good today!!! I think the 1.6 lbs can be chalked up to water weight due to TOM... This week's loss brings my total lost since May 6th to 26lbs and I'm ecstatic about that!
Anyway, funny how I felt like I still had so far to go a few days ago and now I feel like it's so close I can taste it! I'm still impatient, though :) LOL
Hope you all had as great a day as I did!

I'm so glad that you had a good day! This part does seen to take forever. But the whole process has seemed like a "hurry up and wait" game to me. If you didn't have any patience before you started this, you will definitely have grown some by the end, or you would never make it to the end!! lol
Stay persistent! You're getting so close! I'm excited for you. And congratulations on your weight loss!!!

Hey, hang in there. I was reading your post with interest because Aug. 2 I go for my sleep study. I'm a little worried that I'll be diagnosed with sleep apnea and will need to wear a CPAP to sleep. My dad had one. Are you finding it hard to adjust to? I am worried how I would sleep with something over my face.
Try to think positive - after your surgery and you lose weight, most likely you won't need it anymore! It's a temporary thing, even if it seems like forever right now.

I'm not actually on the machine yet. I got a taste of it with my first sleep study and it wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world. It's definitely going to take some getting used to. I have a second sleep study this coming Monday so they can find the right pressure for the machine since they ran out of time before they found the correct pressure last time.

Let's hope it becomes more comfortable as time goes on......I know my dad really liked the quality of sleep that he received after he'd been on it for a little while. I know I'm not looking forward to the sleep study. I think I have to go out and buy two-piece pajamas. The doc said they connect wires so I need to wear something where they can attach them to certain places. All I own are nightgowns and nightshirts!
Good luck with your second sleep study and possible wearing of the CPAP. Make sure you let me know how it goes.
