I know in my book that was given to me it says to eat your protein first then your sides....but I feel so deprived that yesterday I decided to make my mashed potatoes and crumbly a half piece of cooked salmon in it.  I ate it for dinner and luckily it stayed down.....not sure if I should do this with anything else but I sometimes get so hungry after eating a bit here or there that maybe I should incorporate other things into my food intake that will give me substance.

Has anyone else just tried eating their protein with their sides like you use to before surgery?

I'm glad I haven't had dumping once.....came close when I ate sugar-free chocolate pudding with my protein mixed in......guess my stomach isn't ready for chocolate yet.

I typically eat at least 3 tor 4 bites of the protein before tasting the sides. But I measure everything. But I don't eat all of my protein first and then my sides. I also don't do the white stuff. No potatoes, no rice, no pasta and no sugar. My sides are simply fruits and veg.

Well I usually don't do whites either...even before surgery.  But since at the time I could only tolerate the instant potatoes I just keep making it till the whole box is gone then move to something else.  I know I can't do much rice or pasta, the surgeon said I can eat just a little bit of either one if cooked.  But before surgery I was using brown rice and wheat pasta which I'm sure doesn't make a difference because they both can still expand in your pouch.

As far as bites, I can do more than 3 or 4 bites at a time...more like 5 or 6 now.  I'm thinking maybe I'm not doing enough of the protein....instead of half a salmon fillet, just eating a whole fillet...what do you guys think?  I figured a whole one would be a bit much.
