My husband doesn't think I'm moving enough!!
Then I would just tell hubby you're following your doctor's advice. And it's OK to ask him to stop commenting on how much exercise you do or don't do.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
You know, I was thinking about it some more, and this may not be an issue for you but it is for me so I thought I'd mention it. Learning to ask for what we need is a really good thing to learn. I think it's part of learning to feel good about ourselves. So that means it's OK to ask someone for advice or help, but it's also OK to ask them not to give us advice if their advice is making things harder for us.

Wow what a judgemental thing to say! I have every intention of using the membership and it is a part of the membership I have for water aerobics which I use 5 days a week. Its only been a couple of weeks. This site is not intended for judgement. I am sorry if you have never had a tough time in your life where you needed help and have no understanding for others. I really wasn't asking for your or anyone's opinion on my finances.
I personally think you are doing great! I have been procrastinating about going to the gym, myself. Monday is my 3 month anniversary of my surgery. And I kept telling myself when I was 100 pounds down, I'd join the gym. This morning I am at 99 and some, so I guess by Monday I'd better make good on my promise to myself. I will definitely be starting at the pool with the water aerobics. I am still 312 and my knees are shot, so I will be doing the lowest impact activity I can get. I think I will experiment with some arm toning machines, as well as working on strengthening my quads, as I hear that is the way to get some pressure off my knees. And I hope to eliviate some of his ' bat wing' situation! My arms are melting and it's all hanging low underneath when I lift my arm... not pretty. I can only imagine what it will look like in another 60, 80, 100 pounds.. UCK! If your hubby would go with you, it'd probably be easier to get up and go... Or else, see how he likes it, wait til he comes home, ,and leave him with making dinner for the kids, while you go to the gym. Think of it as your time, find a gym buddy, go in the evening, that way if you get into the habit, once school starts again, it wont mess with your routine. And ya know what, if you don't feel ready yet, tell him to F off, excuse my language, but it's YOUR body, and you'll get there when YOU want to!!
LMao...thats pretty much what I told him, but then I started thinking that maybe there was some truth to what he was saying.
I should also mention that my DH is very supportive and didn't mean anything by it I am sure..other than he knows how important the success of my RNY is to me. He may be thin and not have ever had to deal with a weight problem, but he isn't a jerk about MY weight.

my program recommends 5 days/week 30 minutes to 1 hour exercise. Water aerobics are low impact and depending on your weight may be good for now but you will need to do more as you lose.
You don't have to do the classes. start with walking. Most places have a track, treadmill.
I am a firm believer you don't need the exercise so much to lose but to maintain!!!!!

For me, personally, moderation has been the key. I have wanted to incorporate exercise and activity into my daily life, but not so much that I'd feel burned out or resentful or unable/unwilling to maintain over the long haul.
I started out just walking after surgery, and as the weight has come off I've felt more energy and more ability to move, and as a result I started doing more. In the last month or two I've actually found myself getting restless if I sit around for too long!
Like you, I like diversity in my activities. I do boxing twice a week at one specialty gym, and recently joined a second gym which has a wider range of classes for me to enjoy. I mix spinning, yoga, weights and machines -- I just don't enjoy doing the same thing each day. But there are many people who love doing the same thing each day -- its a personal preference.
To me, it sounds like you are doing great. You've worked up from almost no exercise to a regular, maintainable plan. And knowing you like to try different things, you've put yourself in a position to have choices. As you continue along this journey, you may find that YOU want to do more/different things. But as well-intentioned as your husband may be, the desire -- and the parameters -- really need to be set by you if you are going to successfully maintain this lifestyle over the long haul.
Congratulations on your success to date, and best wishes as you continue this exciting journey.
