I don't want to spend a lot of money on support garments like Spanx, does anyone have any suggestions?

thought about going to Wal-Mart or Target to see what they had.

Hi Kris,

I am the queen of protective undergarments.  My granny said that a girl should never leave home without them, no matter what size, especially after having a baby or some other skin related issue.  She absolutely swears by them and has raised a slew of girls ranging from size 0 to 24, and we all had to wear them daily and still do to this day.

Needless to say now, I feel naked without them....   if you have a Burlington Coat Factory in your town, they offer a great selection for cheaper prices.  Maybe sure that you don't get one that is too big.  I always have my husband help me get into in the beginning, but I guarantee that in a day or two... you will be able to get in it yourself.

The one I am wearing now is biker short for $6.00 and the panty one that comes up to my shoulders.  I love this one because it allows me to wear my own bra, but gives me so much support from the panty through the entire stomach.  I also have ones with bras....  others that cover the complete thigh.  It may take you a minute, but you will find what works for you.

I hope this helps,

Evelyn

Target has a lower cost brand that is similar to spanx. It's ASSETS by Sara Blakely. It may be made by Spanx..not sure. It's still alittle pricey but less. You may get a better selection online than in the store. Hope this helps!

DressBarn has some nice high-waist panties.  They're around $20... probably about half of what Spanx is if I remember right.  I used to buy Spanx until I discovered these.  I'm pre-op, but they hold in a little pudge line from where I had gallbladder surgery years ago.  The smaller sizes may be less expensive.

I think it depends on how you carry your weight & your skin issues, but I found that control top hose, in the smallest size that fit, are adequate in keeping the giggle to a minimum.  For "smoothing" under form fitting clothes, I liked the long leg spanx type -- spanx brand were comfy, assets from target were good (have some from my panni removal that I found comfy), but before surgery, I would go to TJ Maxx or similar and buy whatever was on clearance.  Try on before you buy & make sure that you don't "bulge" out the top/bottom.

I like Wal Mart's "Sweet Nothings" or "Cupid" shapewear. Both are reasonably priced and do a good job of holding everything in place.

If you have a store called Cato by you, check there! I was so pleasantly surprised at how great and inexpensive their support garments were! :)

Dollar General also carries support under garments now. They are $8.00 and $10.00.  They are really comfy and breathe. They don't make you hot !!!  Hope this helps =)
